@thetimsmiley They've been "on the verge" forever. When will we see it? Do you think the average streaming customer cares enough about FLAC or WAV to pay more? I think Spotify, Tidal et al already know the answer to that. Anyway, owning > renting, every time, regardless

In conclusion: Let the pop stars have their vinyls; the CD can be the format of the PEOPLE. All you have to do is simply acknowledge that you were wrong about CDs, and we can usher in a new golden age for artists and fans alike. Thank you for your time. [4/4]

@sirericlstevens @jimmyjacktoth My feeling is if owning is the intent, it will be a format that exceeds the technical limitations of a CD. A la Sony’s failed super CD, blu ray, etc. The average bedroom recording artist is creating music at 24bit. Why shoot for a digital medium that degrades it and adds dither?

@jimmyjacktoth @thetimsmiley Owning over renting even extends to physical over digital IMO. I’ve been hunting for my portable HDD that has all my music even going to back to the Napster days. Still can’t find it. But most of my burned CDs still play.

@jimmyjacktoth Apple, Tidal, and Amazon already do HD streaming services. Sounds like Spotify will be soon from what I’m hearing, guessing next year. I think as our mobile bandwidth continues to expand, higher and higher quality will be the default. Apples marketing strategy is banking on it.

@ericdharvey I loathe CDs as a format. From a technical standpoint, they are obsolete due to data constraints and fragile.
