Do you want to see how much the margin in a pre-election poll can vary based on "reasonable" decisions by a pollster? Check this out: disq.us/t/4rd8rfy

Excited that my paper, "Descriptive Representation in an Era of Polarization," is forthcoming at the Journal of Politics! This project started as a very rough draft in my first semester of grad school, and after many rewrites, it's finally out! journals.uchicago.edu/doi/10.1086/73…

I wonder what part of the argument you agree or disagree with? Our arguments about calibration are directly applicable to your "bet" standard. Regardless of who won that bet we still wouldn't know who was a better forecaster, which is our point!
Nate Silver@NateSilver538

Unfortunately this offer doesn't apply now because the forecast is so close to 50/50, but always happy to bet for real $$$ against boring academics who can't model for shit and say stuff like that election forecasting is impossible. politico.com/news/magazine/…

Here's an updated program for my conferece-within-a-conference on the separation of powers at this year's @MPSAnet conference (sponsored by the @Levin_Center). It will take place on Friday April 5 and bring together over 25 excellent scholars of American political institutions.

🍼Growth in abortion-rights organizations encourages anti-abortion group formation. Anti-abortion actors follow a counter-mobilization logic--they are not first movers. ▶️@thighto1 and the Energy-Stability-Area (ESA) model in 👉 cambridge.org/core/journals/… #FirstView #OpenAccess
