@tracegallagher It’s their call. They have a particular atmosphere they want to project to go along with their high quality cuisine and service. If someone doesn’t like it, there’s probably an Outback nearby.

@classic_film I’m as big a Marx Brothers fan as the next person, but to me the name needs to be top billed either above or below the title in order to qualify for this contest. The idea is the nominee stood head and shoulders above everyone else in the film. Otherwise, they’re not “leading.”

@pmcall @classic_film He did not appear in as many films as the more popular stars did, but each one of them was a gem of a performance. The best of the stars never appeared to be acting. Spencer Tracy was one and Muni was another.

@classic_film I’ve seen Bogie’s name come up, but it seems to me his prominent leading roles began with High Sierra in 1941. He had memorable roles in the 30’s (Petrified Forest and Dead End), but he wasn’t really the top star in those films. Leslie Howard and Joel McCrea billed above him.

A great list! Delighted to see Errol as one of your nominees. He had a fine decade with Captain Blood, Robin Hood, Charge of the Light Brigade, Dawn Patrol, Dodge City, and others.
