He is the charachiture of vain, petty envy who thirsts for power but will never have it.

@Aliathewhite I think clearly some studio noted social messaging was happening behind the scenes. Dune as a concept is too influential for a major studio to release a 1 to 1 adaptation in today's media landscape. Casting for Dune started during the ESG era of Hollywood and it shows.

Kynes is such a pivotal character in the story, his death in the book is hands-down one of the most powerful and moving scenes I've ever read too. I also hated how they turned Kynes, Paul, and even Chani into arrogant jerks in these movies. They made all of them unlikable. Weird choices.

@UpdatingOnRome @BostonConnr Dune is an unfortunate victim of ESG casting. Liet-Kynes role in the first film was miscast and trimmed to the point of it almost being a cameo. Chani in Dune 2 is completely changed, so much so that her rewritten role basically contradicts the final line of the Dune novel.
