Stop designing navigation menus and design better lookahead search instead.
I've been working with Stripe (APIs, Oauth, etc) lately and they have a bajillion links in just as many containers.
I don't need to know where they thought the 'best place to put' a setting was. I just type it into the search bar and go.
Is 'onboarding options' an intuitive container for Oauth? Not what I would think of, but it doesn’t matter - I just get there and can keep working.

@learnwithmattc So the assumption is that client will use Astro by editing md files, so they need AI? That would be a weird setup. I would set it up with some clientfacing UI. It can be anything. A google sheet, an airtable, a keystatic, a payload cms ... not the md files for sure.

I like Astro. I'm watching EmDash closely.
But this is the new "Agency lock-in model". Create a site that can only be updated via Cursor/Claude Github etc, and clients can't touch their site themselves and keep paying agencies tons.
AI enthusiasts over-estimate the common users' capabilities or comfortability with AI tooling. Maybe one day it'll get there, but today's not that day.

@DuaneStorey @learnwithmattc Most of my clients complain about complexity of Gutenberg then they ask more freedom to design their posts. There are exceptions like some universities with large teams, where the sites are pretty active and they need the flexibility. But that's rare. For me.

The world worked pretty fine with Classic Editor in the old days. Lots of people still use it. We're talking about editing a text file really. I don't think it's a big deal for most people. I think WP has lots of advantages in certain areas, but if a person can write text in one, they can write text in the other.

@learnwithmattc I have not tried those, but Keystatic is really nice and straight forward. And if need is there WP can serve here as well.
What is a harness in this context?

@thisbitoo I've tried Storyblock and Sanity personally, and they are not user-friendly options at all. And the pitch above is not about Astro + CMS, it's Astro + harness.

I pulled posts from WP Tavern's REST API into a static site built with Builderius, hosted on Cloudflare. No backend. The Collection element just handles it client-side. We didn't build this as a feature. The architecture supports it. Astro islands, inside a WordPress builder.

Keeping localhost sites on two different computers (on the same network) AND an online site in sync: Now that I can't get site sync working in either Local (with WP Engine, tried a few months ago) or in Studio (with Pressable), I gave up and resorted to full site export and imports using WP Vivid via OneDrive. A little slow, manual and tedious, at least it works.

We wanted to ship this for quite a while. And it seemed far away for some time. After we expanded releases migrations to include WP data migration too, everything fell into place. It was a small, under the radar release that changes everything 🔥

@KatieKeithBarn2 Yes. It requires use of skills, and detailed documents, connection to figma mcp is useful but not obligatory. Depends also on stack (css framework, builder.... ). Task should be broken in smaller chunks. I've had my student build 1/1 smartwatch prototype based on her design too.

Has anyone managed to get Claude Code to implement designs in a pixel-perfect way? I'm getting good results with functionality, but its attention to detail is incredibly poor when I ask it to match designs - even if I provide exact Figma links and SVG's.
