Kingdom Come is a solid book. It has this sense of scale and spectacle that I adore (God bless Alex Ross) but in terms of actual story it falls short. Not to say that it's bad, just that it doesn't really tackle its themes of superhero deconstruction in a meaningful way IMO

Reading The Boys comics and honestly there's a interesting concept they got with Super Duper one can use for a story. A team of goobers that are on the low end of the hero ladder, but well meaning and fine dealing with the little stuff, getting a experienced rough hero (Though I'd make this one not a nutter like Malchemical) who is essentially on 'probation' and you can explore that fun dynamic.
