A friend’s bike was just stolen from downtown Calgary, outside Contemporary Calgary 😭 Kona UnitX (converted to have gears) Has a MacRide adapter on it. Frame bag is on it. Please let me know if you see it! #yycbike

I think that I would like to build more wheels. Ways to do this… 1. Build what I want and then resell at essentially cost. 2. Ask others what they want and have them purchase parts upfront. 3. Head to Two Wheel View, source decent parts to repurpose, & get new spokes. 🤔

I am hopeful that I am misinterpreting the re-paving announcements and that there is more to this project, @CWalcottYYC

Mission Road Bridge closure’ll cut off this road beyond local traffic for about a year, starting soon-ish. This is the PERFECT time to change the road design. People who don’t live in the area will be changing their routes & not be using Mission as a short cut. Locals can 🚲🚶🏽‍♀️.

In two more years, my kid will start attending WCHS and I desperately want her to have an ACTIVE AND SAFE ROUTE TO SCHOOL. She deserves that. She deserves her well being and independence. As do her friends and fellow classmates.

The caragana hedge (an invasive species that should be removed FYI) has been CRUSHED in more than one spot by cars that have JUMPED THE CURB due to poor driver choices.

My friend (AN ADULT, a PARENT!!!) was purposefully close passed TWICE here this week alone and was nearly clipped by jerk drivers while trying to get groceries at Safeway. He emphatically declared that he should just start driving because that’s what the City wants him to do.

I have had more bad experiences than I can count. Speed studies have demonstrated that >50% of people choose to speed in this “traffic calmed”/speed reduced corridor (40 kph). That means POOR ROAD DESIGN and UNSAFE MIXING OF MODES.

I have an email from a neighbour — whose kids attended WCHS a while back — and she BEGGED them to ride the sidewalk (even though it is against the bylaw for high school aged kids) and not ride on Mission Road.

Apparently @yycplan @yyctransport doesn’t think that Mission Road is part of the Active and Safe Routes to School network and, as such, it looks like Mission Road will be repaved this summer with no protected cycling infrastructure added. I am LIVID😡 📚Rideau Park School 🎓WCHS

@goldenmulletman It’s okay! The hub has been toast for a bit and my back is finally well enough to rebuild the wheel (which I enjoy doing) 👍

@speedytrackbike Thanks! We tried out her old bike, my bike, the 27.5 reaper, and a small instinct. She fits a small just fine apparently… which means it’s my turn to buy a new bike I guess?! Keep my bike for her and add one more to the quiver :)

@thismombikes I’m pretty sure it’s running for a month. There aren’t a lot of XS bikes available (instinct only), but there’s still a good selection of sm available (instinct and altitude). We had a lot of fun with an Altitude A30 last year. Good bang for the buck and better spec than Reapers
