Great talk from @Penalosa_G on how to build cities for kids and seniors, because building for the healthy and wealthy isn’t the best we can do.

Benefits would include meeting peers from across the city. Experiencing what our downtown has to offer. And using space that is currently vacant.

If both the #CBE and #CCSB could then share the space to offer classes that only need classrooms like Math, Social Studies, Languages, and many options like law psychology etc students from across the city could choose to do a semester in the cities core.

I would think a piece of solving the #yyc school space problem would be to quickly convert the bottom 3 floors (avoid elevators) of some of our empty towers to classrooms.

@DevinDVote I’m listening to you on @AlbertaatNoon I think you mentioned an interest in improving road design. Is this something the UCP will fund for community groups that have problem areas?

@joelaf Wouldn’t it be great if we could get police on board with helping to improve road design too? They know where the problem spots are. I would love to see CPS be able to have a say in priority intervention to prevent car “accidents.”

When I google the Ro value for #H5N1 I find it’s less then 0.56. Is that just historically in humans? What is the Ro value bird to bird, sea lion to sea lion, cow to cow? Trying to better understand the risk. @RajlabN @TRyanGregory @a_longhurst

🚨Bird flu now in a kid in Canada🚨 "Dr. Bonnie Henry says it is “a rare event” and only a handful of cases of bird flu, caused by H5N1, have been detected in humans." She's a joke. Why is her first instinct always to minimise EVERYTHING. theglobeandmail.com/canada/article…

Example plans. 2Br / 1Bath 3Br+Den / 2 Bath Just need cities to legalize #SingleStair, zero parking, and allow enough density.

Single lot, single stair, Six Plex. No parking (but space for 3 on the street). 50x122 Lot, 1.5FSR. 400A Elec service. Low cost "LULA" elevator. 1000sf and 1300sf flats with shared backyard. This could be a great, lower cost, family option in the city.

Calgary seems overly dependent on 311 crowdsourcing issues from residents who are tired of 311’ing everything. My suggestion is bylaw should be issued e-bikes and begin regular patrols of pathways and in the process they’ll discover where the problem areas are. 👍

I just had a good conversation with bylaw about speeding e-bikes & motorized scooters on pathways, which has been a concern some residents have raised with me. If there are certain areas that are really bad, please report these to 311 because it helps inform bylaw of where to do enforcement blitzes 311's for speeding scooters/bikes are down this year compared to last. #yyccc #yyc

@Sarah_Colero @amandalhu My grandmother would have needed disability support to keep going. That doesn’t mean choosing MAID wasn’t the her best option. I think it’s real important to have age factored in with these numbers. Choosing to die young is something to be looked. Older deaths are different.

#yyccc I created a 311 request to ask if the ability to mute those on the line not currently speaking at council is fixable. That echo is awful and wastes a lot of time. If this drives anyone else nuts I incourage you to to creat a 311.

I’m not a tech person so if this can’t be done I will take your word for it. But I think it would be very helpful for keeping meetings moving and not wasting councils time. I appreciate any investigation you are able to give this.
