A last one from my PhD just got published! The same gene-set we used in S. cerevisiae also works in a very distant yeast such as Y. lipolytica and probably in most yeasts to enable moco-dependent nitrate assimilation academic.oup.com/femsyr/advance…

New pre-print out! Neo's are really cool fungi but they are hard to handle. We studied their adaptation to anaerobic environment by expressing key genes for NAD+ and CoA biosynthesis in yeast and found that this was enough to confer oxygen-independent co-factor prototrophy!
