In response to @DrBrianMay's appearance on @BBCTheOneShow to promote "Brian May: The Badgers, the Farmers, and Me", where he dismissed peer-reviewed science on badgers and TB, AHDB's lead vet Sarah Tomlinson @sjtomo157 addresses the importance of sticking to facts.

@thomwashbourne I have a Tesla. The build quality is actually good. They’ve come a long way.

Would you buy an electric car? If not, why not? The reasons given will go into a video series I’m making, which is aimed at acknowledging people’s apprehensiveness. I know it’s X, but try to make them rational 😃

@MrRoryReid I could really do with finding a long term test drive to see if I could adapt. Just not a Tesla, I can't forgive them for undoing the improvements in build quality the Japanese car industry built decades ago!

@thomwashbourne One thing they most people don’t realise is that you don’t need to fill the battery every time you stop to charge. There are times when I only charge for 5-10 mins. A 150 kilowatt charger can get you 100 miles in 10 mins. A 350kw charger could deliver over 200 miles in 10 mins.

@MrRoryReid I know I can change my approach to making long journeys but sometimes I feel filling up with diesel takes too long! If I could do it all my journeys on an overnight charge at home then I'd have already bought one.

@thomwashbourne How long do you assume charging would take to complete a 300 mile trip?

"Eating less meat 'like taking 8m cars off road'". AHDB is disappointed to see this headline and a study from @UniofOxford @oxfutureoffood @Pete_Scarbs conveying simplistic conclusions to a very complex topic. Here's everything that's wrong with it 👇🧵

Over the weekend, several articles incorrectly stated the global livestock figure of 14% for the emissions of British cattle. We have written to the publications to share the correct figure - British cows (beef and dairy) emit 5% of total UK emissions (naei.beis.gov.uk).

@HefinR @Jostwest Rosy Lane meeting at Newbury was a stretch but just about doable, round trip to Bristol would be 7 hours+ depending on traffic

Not the Sunday morning I'd planned but got to keep the vaccines cool. Just shows how important it is to monitor the temperature of the fridge on the farm!

Have you noticed George will pop up above his parapet and shoot off a poisoned arrow then duck back down and not engage with those that reply.. 🙄

@EKazimierczuk Could you point to some wildflower meadows maintained by dairy farming? Generally, fields for dairy look like this:

@pile_joanne @BuitelaarGroup We do ours under sedation at the same time as disbudding and vaccinating. Only one dose of pain relief to cover both procedure's plus zero stress=no check in growth rate

Castrations yesterday, done with minimal stress to the calves, local anaesthetic, pain relief and a set up that works quickly and quietly for them. Stopped for a quick cup of tea and for Vicky the vet to have her usual cuddle with Fry ✂️🐮😸 #BackBritishFarming @BuitelaarGroup

@Lizhaines6 We've been doing that for about 18 months now and have seen better growth rates as a result. We also castrate at the same time although obviously not applicable to you!

First time dehorning calves under full anaesthetic instead of just local. Less stressful for calves and people! Will definitely be doing it this way from now on.
