Oh dear. Sorry, but at some point they need to be pressed and commanded to make arrests based on the crime, regardless of the perpetrator and whether they are political allies or not. @thoughtflblonde The new Syrian gov have only themselves to blame for what is happening. Their attempts to integrate and include former regime criminals and Kurdish separatist terrorists is biting them hard where it hurts. It had many chances to eliminate these crims but showed weakness instead

The stupid thing is that in the first incident there is no Kurdish flag in sight. Those were obviously a bunch of hardcore YPG guys. So Syrians burning the Kurdish flag in response escalates against a different group. Sectarianism is as stupid as it looks.

It is interesting to think about the only reason the revolution won is because so many Sunni Arabs were stuck in one small province and they had to figure out how to work together or be stuck there together forever fighting each other. The same thing will happen throughout Syria - it will probably just also take the 5 or so years the former took, though I'm sure there steps to achieve reconciliation faster and with less violence.

@carefultwitt You have to integrate the criminal SDF members just like you have to integrate the criminal SNA members. That's how it works when you have a revolution with a hundred different armed groups all with their own popular bases. There is no "fair" way to transition out of the war.

Arab areas of the northeast have been protesting for two months against different aspects of the SDF deal + ongoing SDF violations. There is little popular support for the integration. Today's riots and protests are about more than the removal of the Syrian flag.

This will likely happen with Suwayda - there is no clean militia in the country or in the government for the matter.

Ethnic Incitement is off the roofs against Syrian Kurds on Social Media. Certain known individuals and a widespread pro-STG audience are making bogus claims against Syrian Kurds and hope to escalate the situation into Ethnic War against Kobane and Northern Hasakah. There is an integration deal. And any attempts to renege on the Integration deal will result in the STG losing legitimacy and will trigger US sanctions. Eyes are still on Syria. So it is better for Pro-STG Instigators to STFU.
