My favorite John Sterling call: the Yankees tying the game in the 9th inning on a 2 run home run with 2 outs from Scott Brosius off Byung-hyun Kim in game 5 of the World Series the night after Tino Martinez did the *exact same thing* in game 4.
Here’s Sterling’s call… along with others in order…
Yankees Radio: Sterling & Michael Kay
FOX TV: Joe Buck
ESPN Radio: Jon Miller & Joe Morgan
ESPN International TV: Gary Thorne
Notice how the others just shut up after delivering the call. I’m not even getting on Sterling & Kay about it because it’s radio.
Poor Kim looks like he’s seen a ghost. Quite frankly it’s probably the closest a human being has been to actually seeing one.

One of my favorite things to do for big plays is find all of the calls from it, from each perspective, and compile it into one video. Here’s are the calls from the Braylon Mullins shot, in order… -CBS: Ian Eagle, Bill Raftery, Grant Hill -Duke radio (my favorite ironically and unironically): David Shumate -UConn radio: Mike Crispino -UConn student radio -Westwood One: Scott Graham
