[Poppy Talks] the press conference that happened today tells us the tale of a stock manipulation gone wrong...(2-4min read) there’s a very old trick in the korean stock market. you don’t need a real business. you don’t need results. you just need a story. a hot word. something people recognize. you attach that word to a random company, call it a “theme,” and watch the stock move. it’s been superconductors. batteries. politicians. trends. scandals. the pattern is always the same. the earlier you get in, the earlier you get out. everyone else is left holding air. this time, the magic word was “newjeans.” two kosdaq companies, davolink and tera science, suddenly started circulating in the same conversations as mhj and newjeans. not bcoz they had anything to do with them. but bcoz in this kind of game, association is more valuable than reality. if people believe there’s a connection, the stock moves first and the truth comes later. but here’s the problem. you can’t just walk up to someone like mhj and say “hey, let us use your name to pump a stock.” that’s not how this works. you need a softer entry point. something that looks human. something that looks sincere. in this case, that entry point was a family connection. “we can help reconcile things with hybe.” “we can help negotiate.” “just talk once.” on the surface, that doesn’t look like a scam. it looks like hope... so she goes. not for money. not for investment. not to plan anything. she goes because she’s told this is about fixing things... but the conversation is strange. vague promises. big words. weird confidence. too many names. too many “we have a plan”. the kind of talk that sounds impressive until you try to pin it down. strange enough that she records it (good thing she did) and slowly, it becomes clear that this isn’t about helping newjeans at all. it’s about using them. so she does the one thing a theme stock scheme can’t survive. she says no. she cuts contact. and she publicly says she has nothing to do with these people. and the moment she does, the stock collapses. limit down. bcoz the only thing holding that story up was the implication that “mhj and newjeans are involved.” now imagine you’re the people who already bought in. or the people who were planning to sell into that hype. that's not just a bad trade...that’s hundreds of millions evaporating. and when that happens, nobody wants to admit they were trying to run a stock play. nobody. so the story flips. suddenly, it’s not “we tried to use them.” it’s “she tried to leave with them.” not “we tried to make a theme stock.” but “she was plotting.” “she was tampering.” a businessman goes to the media. gives interviews. turns a failed scheme into a scandal. and some outlets print it, bcoz a betrayal story is always easier to sell than a stock fraud story. (also, it helps if the ppl involved have strong ties to media outlets...so they don't necessarily have to do a lot of "convincing") this is the part people keep getting wrong. the members were not the masterminds in this story. they were the keyword. the bait. even the family connection wasn’t the architect. it was the route. the entire point was to attach a famous name to a stock ticker and let the market do the rest. and mhj? she’s not the person who built this. she’s the person who broke it by saying no. that’s why we see criminal complaints. defamation. market manipulation. that’s why today’s response from ador was basically, “if you have claims, say it in court.” this isn’t really a kpop story. it’s what a failed stock scheme looks like when it panics; and as soon as it does, the knee jerk response would be to burn someone else instead. newjeans weren’t being taken. they were being used.
