@_pauljoyce PSR and SCR shifts compliance onto the fans. It’s grossly unfair.

@_pauljoyce And yet ticket prices will go up and up. Football doesn’t have a revenue problem. It has a cost problem - and rent seeking, captured, dodgy agents are a huge part of it. As are, as much as we don’t talk about it, the uncapped player/staff wages and manager payouts.

I want to know… 1. Who do you support? 2. Who does your Dad support? 3. Who does your Grandad support? 4. What is the nearest football ground to your house?

Probably time for Delaware courts to tell their judges to stay off LinkedIn. This is the second one of these and seems like grounds for recusal.

@daveweigel He may be pernicious but “JD Vance is subhuman, and Gavin Newsom mogs” is the best take I’ve ever heard.

👇🏿 Doesn't say what the actual solution is. What article does say is whatever the solution, it needs to be assessed by UEFA's CFCB. In other words - *not definitive yet* Lets hope Roma don't qualify for the same competition. Also - the MCO model has big problems.
Times Sport@TimesSport

Everton’s owners have not put in place plans for a blind trust should the club qualify for the same European competition as Roma, but believe they have a solution that will enable them to comply with Uefa’s rules ⬇️ #Echobox=1774561216" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">thetimes.com/sport/football…

Not sure who will buy Wasserman (and my post wasn't meant to suggest ClearLake / Ares would) but I don't believe there are Chinese Walls in the US. Eg TPG founders owned Seattle Kraken who had a few players represented by CAA....in which TPG had invested. In the UK? What I know of conflicts of interest rules is that as long as the basic steps are taken (eg consent of all parties or excusing yourself etc) then its not really an issue..... But you are the lawyer so you would be better placed to opine!

Private equity/institutional capital - i.e. investment houses like ClearLake and Ares who have invested in football clubs, are also investing in Talent Agencies. Wasserman is currently up for sale - they are KDH's agents. CAA Stellar (JP1's agency) were owned by TPG Capital before being bought by Groupe Artemis. Football has almost fully converged with US Sport - and we can expect to see the Transfer Industry & Player Contract segment (industries within the football industry) expand. Not good news, ultimately for fans. In the US, the cost of attending a typical NFL game has rocketed well above inflation over the last 15 years. Supporters in the Premier League look set to face another summer of price rises, as seven clubs announce their pricing plans for 2026-27. Those increases range from small above-inflation rises of around the 3-5% mark, all the way up to 15-20% depending on the club and seat. thefsa.org.uk/news/premier-l…

My contribution to brand vs performance: it’s a decision with predictable trade offs. Milk Makeup is leaning into their brand after a couple years of throwing it aside to try to go viral. Maybe this is the year they get a performance marketing strategy. open.substack.com/pub/capersandc…

Today I have laid down an Early Day Motion on ticket pricing in football. Alongside colleagues, we are sending a clear message to Premier League clubs. Football without fans is nothing. Stop raising ticket prices.
Stop pricing supporters out of the game.
Stop exploiting the loyalty that built our national game. #StopExploitingLoyalty edm.parliament.uk/early-day-moti…

@johnmerro1 It’s the best save I’ve ever seen. Alongside 10+ over the past few years that kept a club in the division. He’s a generational talent.

@CitizenSuburbia Bingo. We lose our most effective player in Doucoure. We replace a PL striker with a kid who isn’t ready (who is trying his best). We get two PL players in. One is out for the year. No replacement for Young. He’s done well. We’ll finish 10-11 and go again.

IMO, this is absolutely spot on from Jamie Carragher. Fair enough if you feel differently, but I think he makes some very valid points. #MNF

We built an interstate highway system across the entire country seventy years ago. There is no reason (aside from the interests of fossil fuel companies) why we can't have high-speed rail.
