On the limitations and horizons for visualizing high-dimensional data, and the semiotic decisions we make as "information cartographers" when we train or use embedding models and dimensionality reduction methods.

You may be wondering how one could come into possession of such an image. Let's just say I've got a nanobanana guy.

It actually takes a lot of courage to be unemployed. NEETs might be the bravest men of our generation.

My accelerator cohort colleague Josh wrote a breakdown of running non-frontier models: benchmarking @modal vs Groq, self-hosting with Ollama, and why Modal's serverless GPU model is his pick for anything beyond pure inference.
josh 🫃🏽@escarghoe_

I've been diving into @modal for hosting models and inference lately. My latest blog post dives into using vLLM with GPT-OSS-20B, and comparisons to running models locally with Ollama and Groq. any feedback appreciated :) joshupadhyay.xyz/blog/running-n…

@thrialectics It’s going to be up to those of us who have learned from enduring the psychosis waves of the past first hand, like the adderol era, who already have bits of stable foundation amongst the chaos of the abstract mind space to anchor the masses.

How are we preparing for the mass psychological impact of ontological disorientation at scale? Right now we're protected by adoption curves, I think. Are dynamical systems experts smarter than me already on this, I hope?

@AhQFish Crazy because it's a Leonard Cohen reference so that's what I would have expected.

CEO friend of mine really hates doomerism & cultural pessimism. Used to be much more ok with it but something about being an executive made him realize those thoughts are actively value-destroying. is the selection here for wisdom (focus on what you want) or for blindness?

Urgency is the sense you get when you're running very late; it is an acknowledgment of one's behindness. Immediacy is the orientation of someone who is right on time, exactly where they are meant to be.

@christophcsmith Yeah. I'm freelancing for a guy who has been a "technology solutions consultant" for decades. He was *very* confused by the deliverable I whipped up for him in ~4 hours. Relying on word of mouth from him, because I don't even know how to communicate these capabilities to people.

I spoke at a joint event put on by the RPI Google Developer Group and their AI club last night, and only two people in the room had used Claude Code or an equivalent. Y'all on this app make me feel late, but then I go out in the world and realize I'm very early.
