Be honest, you'd rather watch her poontificate than sit through five minutes of Ben Shapiro...

"Nothing is stored. It's like the pasts are all present in the same room and we periodically have a different perspective on them. When the present balance of stuff, toxicants, euphoriants, etc, is good, you can think and feel what you want to about things." — Ray Peat

@donnelly_b This has to be the stupidest thing I have read in a long time. It assumes more population growth and density is the goal - widening streets and destroying buildings etc. to try to become Barcelona, which of course is on a 19th century grid. Or something like the makeover of Paris into wide Boulevards. It assumes we are in Europe or somewhere where cars are rare and everyone takes transit, but this is North America. We chose to keep the streetcars, which have their issues. Here is the thing - we already have rezonings for nearly 800,000 units in the pipeline - mostly in the core and along suburban avenues. That is something like 1.9 million more people in a city that cannot handle the 3.0 million we have now, which has the worst congestion on the continent. Toronto cannot keep growing - we live on a planet whose population will peak in the next 30-50 years, and many countries are already shrinking. We are seeing Canada's population growth is now near zero and people are fleeing for smaller cities where the ground related homes you want to destroy in Toronto are still being built and are more affordable. The appetite for tiny shoeboxes in the sky is gone. If anything driverless cars and EVs mean that cars become even more common, and we are surrounded by the even more suburban 905 which is also slated to grow. brandondonnelly.com/what-does-toro…
