I’m currently sitting in my car because I can’t stand to look at my husband right now. I recently got a promotion at work and a 600k pay rise. Instead of taking me to dinner and celebrating my win, he sat me down with an Excel sheet. He told me that since I now make more than him, I should take over the light, water bills, and the kids' school tuition so he can ''breathe'' and finally start his own business.
I told him absolutely not. I can't. My salary increase is for my security and my future. It is ''fully'' a man's responsibility to handle the financial responsibilities of his home.
Historically and traditionally, a man provides. Providing is his ''rent'' for having a wife who manages the emotional labour of the house. He doesn't scrub the toilets, he doesn't wash the dishes, he hasn't cooked a meal in years. If he wants 50/50 on the bills, I want 50/50 on the domestic labor. Since it wouldn't seem right to ask him to start washing the dishes or cleaning the toilets, it is also not right to ask me to pay any bills for him.
Now he’s calling me a ''financial parasite.'' We’re now sleeping in separate rooms and he’s muttering about “modern equality.”
Am I wrong ?
I really think my husband is just being selfish and entitled.
**“I tested my friends with ₦500… and I didn’t like what I found.”**
Two weeks ago, I sent ₦500 to three of my close friends.
No explanation. No message.
Just ₦500.
Friend 1 replied instantly:
“Why did you send me money?”
I said, “Nothing, just take.”
He sent it back.
Friend 2 didn’t say anything… but posted later that day:
“God when?” 💀
Friend 3 called me immediately:
“Are you okay? Did something happen?”
That question hit me.
Not “why?”
Not “is it for me?”
But “are you okay?”
Same ₦500.
Three different reactions.
That’s when I realised—
Some people care about the money.
Some people care about appearances.
And a few… actually care about *you*.
I didn’t confront anyone.
I just adjusted how I move with them.
*If someone randomly sends you ₦500 right now… what’s the first thing you’d think?* 👀
My brother once went to Lekki for a haircut at a particular place. Before they started, they told him the price was 200k, but he was wearing AirPods and didn’t hear properly he thought they said 20k. After the haircut, they asked for payment, and he transferred 20k. Almost immediately, they questioned the payment and said he was actually supposed to pay 200k, and things started to escälate.
Fortunately, the real shop owner was around at the time and stepped in to settle the issue. My brother explained that it was a misunderstanding, and after checking the CCTV footage, they confirmed he genuinely didn’t hear the correct price. In the end, they let it go and only asked him to pay 100k instead.
I went to spend the weekend with a guy I’m in the talking stage with…
Saturday morning, this man brought out a whole pile of dirty clothes.
I’m not joking, it looked like he had been saving them for weeks.
I asked, “You want to wash these now?”
He said, “No… help me wash them.”
I said, “Oga, am I the one that wore them?”
This man had the audacity to say: “My ex used to wash my clothes every weekend.”
I told him, “You better go back to your ex because I’m not the one. I even use a washing machine for my own clothes.”
He said I’m not wife material.
We insulted each other so much that day… before he eventually chased me out.
Last year, a guy took me out. Bill arrived. He said split it.
I paid everything, smiled and said “have a lovely evening.”
He called me 6 times. Said it was a test.
Darling, I have a degree, a kitchen full of foodstuffs and a funded account. You were testing the wrong woman.
@wealth_prettyy 2025 or 2026?
Plus I don’t see anything bad with that innovation ,he’s giving you all shelter or do you think the rent you pay can build a house?
My landlord just made a new rule: you must buy all your food and provisions from his wife.
Meanwhile, her prices are higher than outside.
Sachet water is ₦600 elsewhere, she’s selling it for ₦700.
If you come home with groceries, they’ll even check your bag like you’re smuggling contraband.
Worst part? I just renewed my rent on December 1, 2025. 💔
This country will test you😭

“Adults who can’t drive at 27? 🤔
Man sparks debate online after saying it’s ‘insane’ for a 27-year-old adult not to know how to drive from point A to B. 🚗
Do you think every adult should know how to drive?
