Human growth comes best from diversity. Differences cause challenges , challenges cause solutions , solutions cause growth. Deny anyone who denies difference.

Saw Project Hail Mary last night in Monaghan @omniplexcinema . Great movie but dissapointed with cinema. Paid for Imax tickets , sat in Imax theatre, film projected in standard format with obvious borders. C'mon @omniplexcinema , not helping the promotion of cinema over streaming

@GamerHijabi @Nerdrotics @heelvsbabyface Fed uses matter antimatter to produce the energy , Romulans used an artificial singularity . Both used dilithium crystals to focus the energy into a usable form. Bit like steam is used to focus the energy into a turbine , doesnt matter of that energy is from nuclear, coal , gas

Hey @Nerdrotics and @heelvsbabyface Just a thought and I am curious to know what you think. Been a while since I watched Star Trek. But I remember and doubled checked to be sure Romulans don't need dilithium for their warp drives. Putting aside the fact the burn is the dumbest idea in all of sci-fi history. Neither do the Borg The Federation knows how Romulan warp drives work. Why didn't they replicate that Or shouldn't we all be speaking Romulan right now. Even if they supposedly joined the Federation you want me to believe they wouldn't jump on that chance? Or everyone has been assimilated by the Borg. I know we haven't heard much from them after Voyager but they aren't sitting on their asses doing nothing Don't get me started on the stupidity of the medicine. The holograms and the idiot hologram character. I just had a live stream that lasted several hours crashing out over the stupid

@HobbesIsRight @DJSnM That's a pretty big nuke , don't think such a device exists ( the Tsar Bomb was 50 megaton )

@DJSnM When I was in college(‘70s), the studies were focused on using Saturn Vs to toss 100 Megaton warheads, iirc. 2024 YR4 is small enough to be significantly affected by such a device…

I see people asking why I'm assuming a kinetic impactor as the main option for diverting 2024 YR4: Other options require a rendezvous with an object that passes the Earth at 13km/sec, that makes it a much larger mission. Also, you can't really land on this because it's spinning too fast.

@TheMagaHulk Why did the founders sell the company . Who runs the PE firm , are they incorporated/ funded in the US . In Ireland our main social difficulty is Vulture Funds , buying large tranches of mortgages and changing the t's&c's to bleed the customer. 2 biggest are North American based

My wife worked for a company that was purchased by a private equity firm that immediately brought in an Indian CEO. He pushed out all the founders and replaced all the C-suite with Indians. He used Covid as excuse to force every employee to take a "temporary" 10% pay cut and he froze all promotions. He laid off 15% of the workforce, almost exclusively the most experienced employees. He shut down one of the satellite offices that did more manual stuff like data entry, and outsourced their work to India. My wife's workload doubled during this time period. The work/life balance and culture created by the founders was gone over night. Work product also suffered across the company. New leadership placed an emphasis on simply gaining new clients and not providing the same customer support for the existing client base. Client satisfaction drastically decreased as a result. Many clients complained that their account manager who they had a 20 year relationship with was replaced by someone with little experience. This story isn't rare or novel. Many Americans have dealt with a similar scenario in the last decade or so. My wife eventually found a job at a company that was still family owned with no intention to sell to PE.

Daughter opened her new iPhone 15 for Christmas from @fonehouse (that was recommended by @MartinSLewis as a Black Friday deal) that looked completely factory sealed only to find a brick in place of the phone. They are not open until the day after tomorrow and she’s in tears

@tiarnach That was my first thought, too, when I saw the headline. But it's one direction relative to the material. Still, this helps with a future video relating mass and EM waves.

@fesshole When my kids first pet ( a hamster) died, the had a funeral cortege around the house and invited all the neighbours to "The Die Party"🥳. Up to a certain age everything to them is a party .

I'm getting up in years. Out of politeness to my children, I said yes to a "celebration of life" after I die. But I don't want a "celebration." I want people to feel sad when I die. I want them to mourn and grieve, then move on. Why pretend to feel happy at a memorial service?

@RashTierney No, we trust the fridge. Unlike washing machines and dishwashers, the fridge has no moving parts. It’s like comparing a park bench with a motorbike.
