@ATCarrMath @miniapeur My high school physics teacher always threw in at least one silly conversion problem on tests. Furlongs per fortnight is a memorable one.

Today, @IJ filed a cert petition asking #SCOTUS to hear our First Amendment case challenging Mississippi's near total ban on advertising medical marijuana. If a product is legal, it should be legal to talk about that product. ij.org/press-release/…

@Tyler_A_Harper @jasonwblakely A shift people are still pretending didn't happen! That's the truly amazing part -- a total unwillingness to look reality in the eye and pause, if only for a moment, to consider how we got here.

As @jasonwblakely points out, the data-brained social scientists failed as interpreters of Trumpism: they failed to see it coming or understand it when it arrived, resorting to data-fied theories like “white lash” that were swiftly kicked in the teeth by a minority right-shift.

This thread is very astute: the scholars and intellectuals who predicted the rise of Trumpism were largely humanists with training in philosophy, history, etc. NOT quantitative social scientists. To use one of myriad examples, Richard Rorty had this pegged three decades ago.

If you look at who had early insight into MAGA they were either historians, philosophers & theorists (who all share humanistic historical training) or cultural critics & journalists outside the academy who aren't blinded by some big ahistorical wonkish theory or data mania

@tiddlydump She gave birth in an ambulance outside a large university hospital. This shit is completely unacceptable for any healthcare system, let alone one as good as Korea’s.

Firefighters delivered the baby in an ambulance RIGHT OUTSIDE A HOSPITAL. There is NO way not a single hospital had the ability to care for this woman. Shame shame shame.

"USAID" plays the same role in 2024 as "Cambridge Analytica" did in 2016. A fig leaf that allows you to pretend that other people don't have legitimate disagreements with you about politics.
Cernovich@Cernovich

The stock market was propped up by printing money and laundering money to DC “non-profits” via USAID. Inflation resulted and inflation is a tax on the poor. Stock market decline evens it out, we need some deflationary pressure to help workers.

@charlescwcooke @JonahDispatch @kyrstensinema The political geniuses who thought "why would Dems want a Senate seat on WV?" are playing their own 6D chess. You make your coalition bigger by chasing off your moderate members, you see.

@hhp_9x You're assuming things not in evidence. When someone is punching themselves in the dick I don't feel obligated to give them bonus points when they stop. None of this was pressing, and none of it needed to happen on Twitter.

@tiddlydump I agree. Remoting into their main pc is better than the mb air + eHD. However, assuming they have their own reasons for doing things this way, the overheating eHD is a reasonable issue that they managed to seemingly overcome

@RexDouglass You'd expect people from the biggest states would have the most invested in Federalism, but it's the opposite! CA / FL / NY / TX have the most to lose in our current system and instead of working to disarm they're in the lab developing new weapons. It's incredible.

@RexDouglass Sadly, this is true. There's no desire for long overdue reform, just a longing to be the ones wearing the heavy boot of the State.

@laura11D It would be even better if the US had the *more effective* sunscreens available in the EU. I'm no fan of the EU's regulatory hellscape, but even they've managed to get this right. Wear a hat and sunscreen you fools!

The fruitcakes on X are now saying that sunscreen causes skin cancer. My dad, a redhead, goes to the dermatologist monthly to dig out cancerous cells from face that were caused by sun burns in his youth. I go twice a year for the full redhead check up. Idiots, wear sunscreen.

@hhp_9x Use the cloud, because it's 2025? If that's a problem / you need to be air gapped, don't do it while traveling. This can't both be **so critical** it needs to be done while traveling, but also not at all critical such that you can willy nilly crap out a result that's wrong.

@tiddlydump Looks like while traveling they were using a mb air to process terabytes of data connected to an external drive that returned 60k rows in a result set. Seems pretty impressive to me knowing the mb air. How would you have handled this task given the same setup?
