“Guys knock it off or there will be no more speeches. I will turn this car around.” - SPT @lpohutsky19 - upon her 3rd reprimand & gavel as she reminded the speaking Rep to keep his comments to the actual bill in question. I mean, I wouldn’t test her. She don’t play. #mileg

Senate Bill 410 passed out of the House Judiciary Committee in Lansing this morning with bipartisan support!Michiganders are even one more step closer to being able to seek justice when they are injured or killed by defective drugs. Now to the House floor and Governor’s desk!!

Sam cared so deeply, for so many people. She helped many of us get elected, work tirelessly in constituent services roles in a number of offices. If she ever had a bad day, you’d never know it. Always positive, always looking to help. I’m devastated. detroitnews.com/story/news/loc…

Thank you Senator for leading the way on this! Michiganders who are injured or killed by defective drugs get no justice simply because we live in this state. It’s time to fix this damn law.

The #Michigan Senate passed my bill to repeal Michigan's unique law protecting pharmaceutical companies from accountability when a drug hurts or kills a resident. SB 410 restores the rights of people to hold corporations accountable when their product harms them or their family.

@TJWfold @US_FDA Happy to chat the legalese more -at length - but the only real fix is deleting section 5 of MCL 600.2946

@tiffanyrellis @US_FDA From my understanding there is a circuit split on federal preemption? Anyway, be great tomorrow! This type of justice has been a long time coming

If you, a friend, or family member have been injured by a dangerous drug, please, share your story so I can share it with the lawmakers in Michigan.

@TJWfold I’m interested to learn more about what you mean - are you talking about the fraud on the @US_FDA “exception”? Only the FDA can assert that.

@tiffanyrellis I had two potential clients, young autistic boys who were put on Risperdal and developed gynecomastia. Even though J&J defrauded the FDA, they still don't have a claim because they also have to prove FDA would have withheld approval.

Tomorrow, Thursday October 5, I’ll be testifying in Lansing to make this madness stop. 30 words in state law have stood in the way of justice for nearly 30 years. We must restore accountability against makers of dangerous drugs. We deserve it. Michigan deserves it.

It’s prevented the state and victims from seeking accountability and funds for the harm that’s been done, and nearly stood in the way of Michigan’s path out of the opioid crisis. detroitnews.com/story/news/loc…

This one of a kind law passed in 1995 was meant to keep drug manufacturers in the state - they left anyway.

Did you know Michigan is the only state in the country where there is no legal accountability for drug makers when they hurt and kill people? That means since 1995 countless people and families have had no recourse when dangerous drugs cause blindness, heart attacks — or death.
