I wouldn’t mind seeing Kyle Manzardo shipped elsewhere at the deadline. He’s an extremely inconsistent hitter who puts up some of the least competitive at bats I’ve ever seen but sometimes hits moonshots. Also an average defender at first base. Change of scenery candidate.

Top MLB Free Agents have recently gotten deals upwards of $60M AAV. In this abomination of a “proposal” top Free Agents would earn $40.4M AAV across a length capped deal. The players are not the ones trying to restrict 50% of MLB’s earnings potential. That is the owners.

@JacobsFieldRBW I don’t disagree with this.. I do believe there are multiple ways to tackle it.. it has to start with stiff penalties at the top of a soft cap.. the floor is important too

If the players will “not accept a salary cap under any condition” then they aren’t fighting for fair pay. They’re fighting for the top 1% of players to be able to become ultra ultra wealthy rather than just ultra wealthy. And that comes at the expense of competitive balance.
