Twenty years ago I was working on some code review for MSFT. There were only two areas they forbade us from looking at. DRM (so we wouldn't write keygen/cracks for it), and NTFS because even back then, the authors of the code had made their millions and had ether left or were no longer writing code, and they didn't want us to find anything for fear they'd have to fix it.

Yes. Not sure about your company, but for mine arriving day before meetings and leaving the day after meetings is always covered. Flying to east coast requires day before anyway. So you get the earliest possible flight on day before meetings (red eye?). Spend all that day playing, then the latest flight possible on Saturday (if meetings ended on Friday). Add day(s) on top of that based on how much you want to see. Luggage can be checked at hotel before check in time, and picked up many hours after you check out.

So. I have an opportunity to have an all-expenses-paid trip to Manhattan for work. and I'd probably choose to spend an extra day or two after exploring (at my own cost)... should I do it?

For now, here's the short version: PARALYZING russia's feeder fleet – the small and medium 140-meter flat-bottomed "courier" tankers with a deadweight of around 7,000 tons – effectively cripples a major component of russia's shadow fleet. It prevents the export of its "black gold" from river-port oil transshipment bases and loading terminals through the Volga–Don Canal and the Sea of Azov to large tankers. Those larger tankers can't reach the oil terminals or ports because of their draft, so they're forced to load offshore in the Black Sea from these courier tankers, each of them taking on cargo delivered by 12–15 of these little water shuttles. Burning these worm-camels of the sea – along with the tugboats that keep dragging them around after they've been hit – also limits deliveries of scarce gasoline to Crimea through the shallow bottleneck of the Sea of Azov. That leaves road and rail tankers as the primary supply route – a far more dangerous option, since both remain under the fire control of the Freedom-Loving Ukrainian Bird, whether they move on asphalt or rails. I spoke with the owner of the Drip Cafe in Denver, Colorado where the Denver Communists "protest" on the first Friday of every month. The cafe has been vandalized and harassed for years because they are Christians. The Communists hand out the anti-cafe flyers on the street to prevent customers from going inside with false claims that they are homophobic. The cafe helps homeless people get jobs, get ID's, haircuts, and helps them get access to food and clothing, while teaching them Christians principals that help them get off the street and improve their lives. What incentive do communists have to keep people homeless, on drugs and on the street? They are incredibly friendly and welcoming at the cafe!
