Uninvited visitor tonight. 12:39-ish. You can see him coming around the house on the north side. Then he’s on my porch. Tries the door twice and even rings the RING. And I got a great still of him. By the time I got my 357 and got downstairs, he was gone. I checked around the house. Went back in and called the sheriff. There were several calls on him, and they got him several houses down the road. Phew. Now I’m up. I drove this rebuilt car with this original engine for 1000s of miles over 3 years, thanks to JC Whitney. It had a gasoline heater. Cool windy, musty day between stormy days. Some garden work. Cathie with her CHF, and me with my replacement knee. Did that about two hours ago. Almost going out the door for a bike ride while we await a call from my shop that they got my Power Stop brake performance upgrade installed and ready to pick up. A very close friend of mine since the mid 1960’s @TimE50927 , has had an acting up heart for the last week. He goes in to my Hospital for a heart ultrasound Monday after all the storms go through. Today was the day of the new entry door install. The first picture is the old door. 36” in a five foot opening with two 12” side lights. Second is the new door in front of the opening. 42” door with a 14” side light. Third is door installed. Final pic is Cathie’s recumbent in the doorway. Her bike is 38” wide. They need to view with live x-Ray type screens to make sure they got the exact position. Very busy day so far. Met with a construction company for a roofing job this late April, drove 35 miles to our CPA to drop off our tax info, stopped at the nearby Trader Joe’s. And then an Aldi’s. All without a walker, rollator, or cane. Last night in my bed wasn’t perfect. I got a broken 6 hours. Ok, maybe you guys will think I’m crazy or stupid. But I’m getting rain for the first time this month and it’s reminded me of a few things I really appreciate in my life, besides Cathie: The sound and smell of rain The smell of freshly plowed ground The smell of freshly mown hay and/or clover Riding a bicycle The very subtle change in sound of a gas 560 pulling a big disc as the sun sets and the dew falls. The way a Case-a-Matic 830 pulls its plow through a section of tougher ground and out of it. A loving dog An older car that felt like an extension of you. Sunsets, sunrises. Green skies That constant light wave action at Myrtle Beach with the occasional “paaaw-wooof” of a 100 yard wave that breaks all at once. Yes. We’re headed down that 16 hour drive in 10 days. Just the little stuff you catch once in a while. It’s 12:30 Wednesday morning. There is a recovery plan in place for Cathie. She has a bunch of competing long term illnesses and they are virtually all out of wack tonight. She has Crohn’s which messes with absorption of meds. She has a thyroid that’s way off, low potassium. Low hemoglobin. Low fluids. All these contribute to erratic heartbeat. So whole blood first while taking diuretics to get the fluid off her lungs while giving her fluids to not dehydrate her. And trying to get the right amount of levothyroxine for her thyroid. It’s a very delicate balancing act right now. But the plan is in place. To get her breathing easily without giving her different heart issues. Thank you all for your support and prayers.
