@tim_blee In the short term I think we are underestimating the size of the downturn with high inflation, higher unemployment that these measures will cause & the economic slowdown that reduced asset sales bring. Once that sets in most FHB will be in daily budget mode, not buying houses.

To be fair most of them don’t support all of the tax changes at all. And several of them are economists who are neither professionals or subject to any penalty for any opinions, advice or models they produce. There are plenty of actual business operators (I.e not them) who agree that some parts of the budget are defensible but disagree with the more extreme attacks on investment and business. That sort of real world impact at a business level is beyond the scope of most of those you’ve quoted.
