@VinceBoley I don’t think it’s something that can be “taught” . Not in the way maths or other subjects can. It all stems from being a reader. Those who read often write naturally and just need the technical aspects teaching from my experience .

The majority of teachers have no clue how to explicitly teach students to write. Why is nobody talking about this?

Funny how everyone’s a “school leadership” guru these days. Led a school? No. Held a leadership role? Barely. But advice? Endless.

@Headteacherchat If OFSTED say it’s a waste of time tomorrow, everyone will drop it like a hot potatoe! We get our children to stick it in as a “header”. I think just displaying it in the room somewhere is enough.It’s done purely for evidence in book scrutinies - not for the kids .

Just a thought: How much time could be saved if children didn't have to write out the learning objective or question?

@RogersHistory This first week off has seen me have the most disturbing nightmares ever! I asked AI what it could be and the explanation was actually excellent.

In my full time classroom teacher years (2007-2020 so far), the first 1-2 weeks of the summer holiday was a combo of headaches, low mood, lethargy, exhaustion and even emotion. Maybe it was the body coming out of an unhealthy heightened stress level? The last 1-2 weeks of holiday was a weird mix of dread, anxiety, excitement and looking at pipe dream alternatives to teaching. Got the nice wonderful 2-3 weeks in the middle!
