King Charles accused of hypocrisy after 12 foxes 'strung up like trophies' on his land
The grim discovery made in countryside owned by the monarch near Penicuik comes as Charles claims to be at one with nature in a new documentary.
The grim discovery in countryside owned by the monarch, near Penicuik, Midlothian, sparked a police probe and comes as Charles claims to be at one with the natural world in a documentary out this week.
Campaigners have written to the King urging him to intervene after images obtained by the Sunday Mail showed the slaughtered animals, with some of the bloody carcasses draped over a fence near a publicly accessible path.
Robbie Marsland, director of Scotland and Northern Ireland for the League Against Cruel Sports which has written to the King, said: “Twelve foxes shot and strung up like trophies on Crown Estate land is grotesque.
“This slaughter isn’t about protecting livestock, it’s about protecting pheasants from foxes so birds can be shot for sport.
“It’s killing to kill, dressed up as countryside management.
This is the lovely Nigel Farage. The photographer gave him a message before he went to support the Boxing Day hunt.
He’d hate it if people shared this and signed the petition for a proper ban on fox hunting - protectthewild.org.uk/our-campaigns/…
Fond memories of Frank Williams, who passed away on this day in 2021. Here he is, serving soup at a pre-season lunch for the British media at Didcot in January 1985. There were just 10 of us round the table. Huge fun. Can you imagine this with a F1 Team Principal today? #F1
It’s not been the ideal day, a few errors this morning but
the afternoon has been a clean run. The road has been evolving, it’s been very hard to make a difference and try to fight.
Tomorrow is a long day, we’ll give it our best! 🙌🏼

Wishing the best of luck to everyone at the Roger Albert Clark Rally that started today! Great memories from 2023 - some of the best stages in the world 🤩
Here's some photos from when I had a go behind the wheel during the pre-event test at Sweet Lamb! 👌🏻 #ThrowbackThursday
Don’t let this get buried; a very close ally of Farage is jailed for pro Russian bribery.

@RoostersWorldja@Birdlifejamaica@Naturalistja These are a common sight in the UK too. Same issues affecting nesting sites and competition for food,
In our urban areas they are a valuable food source for Peregrines, so not all bad.
The invasive Ring-necked Parakeet in Jamaica may look dazzling, but it threatens native birds by stealing food, nesting sites+potential to spread diseases.
🌱 Protecting biodiversity means tackling invasive species head-on. Share your observations to @RoostersWorldja#InvasiveSpecies#Jamaica#conservationchampions
🚨 Changes to Stage 19 - Albertville - La Plagne
The discovery of an outbreak of contagious nodular dermatitis affecting cattle in a herd located specifically in the Col des Saisies has necessitated the culling of the animals. In light of the distress experienced by the affected farmers and in order to preserve the smooth running of the race, it has been decided, in agreement with the relevant authorities, to modify the route of Stage 19 (Albertville–La Plagne) and to avoid the ascent to the col des Saisies.
🚩 The ceremonial start will take place as planned at the exit of Albertville. After a 7 km parade, riders will head towards the D925, where the official start will be given. The race will then rejoin the original route shortly before Beaufort (at km 52.4 on the original schedule).
Due to this change, which notably bypasses the Col des Saisies, the stage will now cover a total distance of 95 km instead of the originally planned 129,9 km.
🕝 As a result, the start in the neutral zone will be given at 2:30 p.m., one hour later than originally scheduled.

@paulo_stewart@tjakestewart@itvcycling@LeTour Jake is doing a great job!
It is so sad we are losing free to view coverage, I’ve made a point of watching this weekends stages in full as I won’t be able to next year.
Poignant moment seeing my boy @tjakestewart being interviewed for @itvcycling considering he is doing so as free to view coverage of @LeTour enters the dying embers stage in the UK and yet it was very much the thing that lit the fire within that inspired him to do what he does 😢
Told work my Dad had died so I could stay home and binge watch Stranger Things season 2, few days later went back to work and they told me I could have 2 weeks off with full pay including the day of the funeral, Dad's fine.
Morning I am still supporting this campaign & shocked that Government officials have issued permits to British hunters who shot cheetahs allowing them to bring their ‘trophies’ back to the UK. British hunters are being given permission by the government to bring home trophies of other endangered wildlife, such as African elephants & leopards. Indeed, they are killing a wide range of threatened species, including hippopotamuses, giraffes, wolves, wild cats and monkeys, whilst lions hand reared as cubs are being shot by British trophy hunters.
There is a lack of government action in the face of this scandalous situation that horrifies the vast majority of Britons. Labour rightly made a strong election manifesto pledge that it would ban hunting trophies. There has been silence from Defra, the department responsible. Please join me in asking no telling your MP to get off his behind & do something about this situation THANK YOU
