@timdooley It’ll pop a block of strong stuff (yellow) right up out of there. Like a whole basin filled with a few kilometers of diabase. Pink and green are mechanically the same more or less and the behavior does vary based on what’s in the extensional growth.

Thrust belt model with inversion structure…try to post a video of deformation soon. Inverted extensional structure is at an angle to compression, hence the bend in the cut section. No shortcuts (of the footwall variety)!
