I first discovered Dan McQuade’s writing when his article about Rocky’s running route when viral in 2013. I emailed him the day the article came out to get his blessing to turn it into a real run. The past December, the 13th Annual Rocky 50k was run. Here we were at the 2021 run.

Devastating news today. My favorite Philly writer, DMac, has moved on. The world is far less interesting today. He wrote Philly like no one else and was a great, great dude.

The Dan McQuade news is incredibly sad. defector.com/dan-mcquade-19… Incredibly creative and funny writer, who captured Philadelphia's quirks better than anyone. And just a really good dude on top of all that. He will be missed.

Good news! I have mites! (“good news” because fairly easily treatable. One of the downsides of aggressive chemo is that it’s tough for facial skin to hold at bay a lotta the stuff we normally fight off. This diagnosis is good news, b/c our docs will be able to help get us back ahead of the curve, and stop the bloody oozing from my newly 5X-sized nose….)

I dont think I have many Philly friends/followers who can’t relate to this but I’ve spent a lot of my life in upstate NY and Chicken Riggies was such a staple dish for me and my friends throughout college, can’t wait to go and try this!!!
