"In this arena of gladiators, torment, greed, unlikely friendships, mystery, blood-wraiths and deities, comes a tale so strong, so highly immersive, so magnificent in tone and pacing..." - Goodreads review

Keeping things positive. Happy about Artemis. Happy about Easter this weekend. Getting some writing done after a long break. How about you? What's good in your life this week?

@timfrankovich It's been a hard week, but God is good. We celebrated the life of a brother who tragically died last week. But now we are looking forward to seeing him with Christ. Celebrating the resurrection is a sweet reminder of that promise!

@timfrankovich Thanks! I was so nervous that I blushed through most of it, but she said she really enjoyed it.

@timfrankovich Respect for focusing on the good things! This week, my wife and I celebrated our 20th anniversary. As a gift, I surprised her by singing "Music of the Night" from The Phantom of the Opera--her favorite musical. I had been practicing the song for the past month and a half. 🙂

@astorytoldbooks Phantastes has always been my favorite of MacDonald's books. (And the paperback copy I have is tall and doesn't fit right with the rest of my books.)

The final illustrations are done and we’re beginning our vendor selection and QA process! That said, it also means it’s time to commission new illustrations! What would you like to see next? (Dealings with the Fairies is a short story collection)

Last night, just before going to bed, I hid eight of these in places where my wife will find them. Let’s see how my April first goes…

@TheDiceDrop I'm assuming you're referring to a session with a single game. (Because if it's a general board gaming session, the answer is 6+ hours.)

@BradRTorgersen Interesting. I hated Interstellar (except for the visuals), thought Inception was okay, but absolutely loved the Dark Knight trilogy. All of it.

I've never seen Nolan's Batman. Not any of the three. Finally watched the middle movie on the flight back home from San Antonio. I think I have to conclude Nolan's movies just aren't for me. Everyone seems to love them, but Interstellar was overcomplicated and some of the characters made decisions which make no sense. Inception was also overcomplicated and characters made decisions which make no sense. Yet again with The Dark Knight the plot is overcomplicated and characters make decisions which make no sense. I could buy that The Joker is criminally insane. I could not buy that he'd have an army of competently criminal adherents doing all his dirty work for him. I could buy that he might try to manipulate the situation so as to force Harvey Dent to compromise his principles. I could not buy that a horrendously wounded Dent would become the circus freak Two-Face. And so on, and so forth. I know, I am trying too hard with a superhero movie. All superhero movies require an added layer of suspension of disbelief, and The Dark Knight almost had me. But there were too many plot dominoes falling in specific ways which made the "machinery" of the writing too apparent. And Bruce Wayne's war to save Gotham too contrived. I give it two-and-a-half out of five stars. Just like Interstellar and Inception.

So, turns out I'm not the only one who loves fantasy. And on that note, @realmattfalcon, @Lyons_Pen, and I did a thing: No, no, we didn't start a band. But we should. EL can sing into those fancy mics of hers. In the meantime, we've started a group for fantasy authors. Quality, mutual support, and a place for you to find your next great read. If you look closely at our group name's initials, you can get a good sense for our general attitude towards... well, everything. We're just here to talk books, write books, and yes, sell books. #ffs

Dear Grok/algorithm gods, I like fantasy. No, you don't understand. I REALLY like fantasy. Love it. Especially blended with other genres. Find me authors and readers who love sci-fantasy, horror fantasy, heist fantasy, historical fantasy (extra points for flintlock era or mythological tie-ins). The list goes on, but you get the idea. FANTASY!

I think I'm going stop reading books with dragons and instead focus on books that have a lot to say about exports and imports and governments and drains.
