PostHog will destroy Claude Code and Codex The moat they'll have from user behavior data and error logs will for the first time give AI tasks that are actually useful and not slop features or things that don't matter Can't wait to try it

You can say whatever about YC, but it's an amazing GTM incubator! A good example is Posthog: the product is honestly not great compared to Amplitude, but for some reason, most early-stage companies use it.

@jamespotter @GregRay42 I just had a quick look at the support ticket from March (25919), looks like we ended up solving it for you at the time anyway (and you seemed happy). anything else that went wrong?

I'm paying $180/mo for Mixpanel but I completely stopped using the UI, I just ask Claude questions or get it to render charts and funnels on-the-fly. They only retain your data for 2 years unless you sign an enterprise deal. It makes less and less sense to use these platforms. I feel if someone builds a rock solid API-first analytics service with a compatibility layer for the Mixpanel/Amplitude ingest libraries, that would do quite well.

@luke_pighetti I agree. Posthog is a vibe coded dumpster fire. I wish it weren’t but it is. It’s virtually impossible to get useful and actionable insights.

one of my biggest mistakes building mobile apps is not spending enough time in the app store analytics section. i’m finding so many actionable signals there that i completely missed in posthog

@whereischarly @djkesu1 we thought the tabs would make posthog feel more powerful/useful to do real work in but sounds like the feedback is the opposite!

PostHog's built-in tabs system is the worst, and their docs, living inside a fake browser in a browser, are unusable

I use it everyday! Love the product and still think it’s crucial to my app. The performance has greatly improved recently. But the UI and the overall experience just feels slow most of the time and this hinders usability. I usually find joy building dashboards and analyzing data but I’ve resorted to letting my agent do most of the interfacing with Posthog because I struggle with alot of the tasks and prefer to use all the cool features while staying away from the UI. Tl;dr: UI/UX feels heavy and like a chore to use for me giving me the illusion the product is bloated and slow. Hope that helps and kudos for listening!

@whereischarly We had to embed PostHog data on our internal dashboard to make it make sense

@whereischarly Yep, I like the app but not this weird UI. It's fine for a commemorative landing page but not your entire app. Thankfully I can just use an agent to report things to me now.

@whereischarly Posthog is useful but its most bloated slow software I’ve used in the last couple of years. Design tax is real

I used to love PostHog for replays, but we recently switched to Mixpanel Replay. Final straw: the SDK started acting up in one of our SPAs. We dug through our setup, checked the docs, and couldn't figure out what we were doing wrong. Then we found a comment from 3 years ago describing the exact same bug. PostHog said it was fixed and that the docs PR just hadn't been merged yet. Three years later, the PR is still open. Ridiculous.

@vectorpunks @BenLeaPH @posthog Of all the emails that this attacker sent, only 0.04% had existing PostHog accounts and there are no other signs of a breach, so I can confirm that your email address being hit here was a coincidence we're working on fixing the abuse path. sorry!

@BenLeaPH @posthog How was my email address leaked to them?? Granted this is not the only phishing email I get but it seems too much of a coincidence that I’ll start getting phishing emails from posthog right after I signed up. I haven’t created any orgs or really used the account.
