New: Tension at the Associated Press over use of AI. One of the AP newsroom leaders leading the company's AI initiatives told staff that many editors preferred an AI-written article to a human one, and told them when it comes to using AI in the newsroom "resistance is futile."

FROZEN SOLID DC -- to a degree we seldom see. CWG photographer Kevin Ambrose (@dcstormchaser) visited and photographed the National Mall on Sunday morning -- after two weeks straight of mostly freezing weather. He writes... The temperature was 22 degrees, and there was very little change in the snow and ice conditions from last weekend. Hockey and ice skating continued on the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and Constitution Gardens, and there were a lot of runners and dog walkers braving the cold. It was a beautiful winter day in D.C. The photos remind me of Library of Congress photos of winter scenes in D.C. from over 100 years ago. It's something we haven't seen in a long time. Posted during halftime of Super Bowl LX

The House might have ended the government shutdown, but the day was not without drama.
A Republican member told NOTUS that one holdout on the rule, Rep. John Rose, “was upset” that President Donald Trump had not endorsed his campaign for Tennessee governor and would “burn this place down.”
Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters later that Rose “is engaged in a tight race for the governorship of Tennessee. He’s thoughtful about that, and he wants a fair fight there, and so that’s what we discussed.”
