Terrifying reality check. Hacker Ryan Montgomery leaves Tucker Carlson completely stunned by revealing his social security number, driver's license, and exact property deeds. He exposes how the massive digital surveillance state has completely destroyed all American privacy.

Fact: Section 20 of Part 2 gives the Minister's minions the power to search premises and seize their records without a warrant. That sounds like an "authority" to me.

(1/2) Part 2 of Bill C-22 does not create new authorities, such as surveillance powers, for law enforcement and CSIS. It ensures that electronic service providers are able to respond to lawful access requests from law enforcement and CSIS.

The Barreau du Québec's brief to the SECU Committee on Bill C-22 Lawful Access is an interesting read. It focuses exclusively on Part 1, and has this banger quote: ourcommons.ca/Content/Commit…

In the era of #ArtificialIntelligence, when human dignity is threatened by new forms of dehumanization, ours is the pressing duty to remain profoundly human. We must lovingly safeguard the grandeur of humanity bestowed upon us and revealed in its fullness in Christ, the splendor of which no machine can ever replace. #MagnificaHumanitas vatican.va/content/leo-xi…

If Canada wants Alberta to stay, it's actually quite simple - just treat Alberta fairly. Here's how Ottawa could do that: 1) Fix the House of Commons so it's proportional to population. 2) Fix the Senate, so it's elected and there are an equal number of seats per province. 3) Repeal the multiple pieces of legislation preventing pipeline and energy project construction and let the private sector get to work. 4) Get rid of the equalization program. 5) Convert transfer payments using a tax point transfer. 6) Give up the "spending power" on issues that are provincial jurisdiction. Note that literally none of these would change things to favour Alberta, they would simply remove existing inequalities to make things fair for all provinces. If the rest of Canada isn't willing to even consider making things fair, why should Alberta stay?

Alberta has contributed $600 billion+ to the rest of Canada since 1967. The last 10 years, more than $200 billion - or $20 billion+ per year. And yet, in the last five years, Alberta has experienced a period of prolonged economic stagnation & decline. alberta.ca/announcements.…

TD report on CANADA's BRAIN DRAIN is really interesting. Canada is quietly losing its top talent to the United States in what economists call a silent brain drain. While Canada does a strong job educating highly skilled workers in STEM, engineering, and entrepreneurship, it struggles to keep them due to higher taxes that kick in at much lower income levels, limited opportunities to scale companies, weaker commercialization of ideas, and much better pay and growth potential south of the border. -> Talent leaves mainly through temporary US work visas rather than permanent moves -> Outflows are heavily concentrated among the highest skilled, especially in tech and advanced degrees -> Onward migration is worst among immigrants and top university graduates -> Canada has a missing middle of medium sized firms, relying instead on many tiny businesses and a few large ones -> Personal tax rates often exceed 50 percent in major provinces and apply at much lower thresholds than in the US -> Complex corporate tax rules push entrepreneurs toward tax planning instead of growth All of this weakens productivity, innovation, and domestic returns on education, making Canada a feeder system for the US economy REPORT: economics.td.com/ca-silent-brai…

She's not giving independence more time. Instead, she's giving the "Stay" side two chances. If "Stay" wins in October, it's over. If "Stay" loses in October, they can try again, assuming there is ever an actual independence referendum. "Leave" has to win twice. If "Stay" wins either time, the answer is Stay.

Smith is trying to play Albertans like Carney is playing Smith. Smith can hold an independence referendum if she wants to. She doesn't want to. She's dangling the possibility of one in the future instead. Carney could approve a pipeline if he wants to. He doesn't want to. He's dangling the possibility of one in the future instead. On the present path, neither seems likely. The question is whether Alberta independence supporters will refuse to be fooled by Smith as Smith has been fooled by Carney.

ExpressVPN, @torproject, Tuta, Mozilla, @EFF and Mullvad, alongside 13 other organizations advocating for digital privacy rights, have published an open letter. In the letter, they express serious concerns regarding the age verification measures planned for implementation across the internet following the introduction of a new child protection law. The organizations argue that forcing users to prove their age across most websites and online services could severely undermine privacy, anonymity, and the open nature of the internet. The central message of the letter is that protecting children should not come at the cost of jeopardizing the freedom, security, and privacy of all internet users. The signatories are calling for more balanced, privacy preserving solutions to be developed instead. The 19 organizations that signed the letter are: 1- Big Brother Watch 2- Defend Digital Me 3- Electronic Frontier Foundation 4- ExpressVPN 5- Gamers Voice 6- Global Partners Digital 7- Index on Censorship 8- Internet Society 9- Mozilla 10- Mullvad 11- IPVanish 12- NO2ID 13- Open Rights Group 14- Privacymatters 15- Proton 16- Stop Killing Games 17- Tor Project 18- Tuta 19- VPN Trust Initiative
