@Ideas4Russillo Getting the ball first is a soccer thing. In college basketball, it is still a foul if there is illegal contact after the ball is touched. And, on the video, there was plenty of body prior to the ball being touched anyway.

@timjsinclair This is clearly not a foul. Especially in the picture. He got all ball first which is obvious (see photo)

Why in the world would you use THIS picture to articulate what is otherwise a valid point?! Yes, flops and “hair fouls” should be penalized. But this is the exact opposite. 1) Keaton Wagler was assaulted on this play (see photo) and 2) the refs didn’t call a foul here regardless of the head movement. Google harder man. #illini

My point really wasn’t whether there was a foul or not. My point was that the situation chosen in the initial post was a poor one for his argument. Choose one with a flop, no foul, but one gets called. This situation was flop, foul (debated by some), and none called. With that said, Karaban gets the foul IMO.

I’m not saying he didn’t fling his head. I’m saying there was an obvious foul AND the refs didn’t call it—the exact opposite of what the original post was getting at. Find a picture of someone not getting fouled, but acting like they did, and the ref calling it. That would prove the point.
