Fifa Technology 👀 Its very clear to everyone with working eyes that: 1. It hits the wire 2. Trajectory of ball changes 3. All Norwegian staff seen it happen They are hiding behind this ball technology which clearly isnt working properly & even worse, was used to chop off a Croatia goal that we also could not see any evidence of the player touching the ball Football is unique, its a flowing game, get the technology less involved and make the refs control a game again 🙏

I'm saying it is flawed because you are oversimplifying I would also wager that you'd be unable to give an eg of a venture that would be a) of net benefit to the UK, and at the same time b) more attractive in France less 2% return in UK

@timn257 @technopopulist You're not thinking about this clearly. They invest in the UK because they're expecting a particular return. The wealth tax reduces that return by 2% (for a company owned by a wealthy private investor). That makes the UK unattractive compared to e.g. France

It is a very satisfying video, and I implore everyone to watch it. But what is really fascinating is not that @DanNeidle and Gary disagree over wealth taxes. It's that they approach public policy from completely different *mindsets*. Dan is fairly ruthless in separating morally appealing policies ('vibes') from their real-world effects. He asks: 'Will this do what it says on the tin?' 'What are the unintended consequences?' 'What does the evidence say?' and 'Could this be counterproductive?' Gary asks none of those questions because, in my view, he fails to distinguish between good intentions and real-world outcomes. If something feels good and righteous, then the evidence must support it and nothing can possibly go wrong. To me, that is a big problem with much of the Left's approach to economics. There is an assumption that moral feelings and good intentions naturally translate into good outcomes in the real world. THEY DON'T.

A constituent has been stuck on the M25 near Oxted for 8 hours. It is 40 degrees in her car. She has kids with her. She is running out of water. The person from the car in front has been airlifted to hospital with dehydration. Police seem to be saying it’s not their job to give out water. @SurreyPolice @NationalHways please sort this out urgently. People need water and some may need evacuation. You have protocols for this situation - please implement them - this is an emergency! 🙏

Players playing in less physically demanding conditions are having the benefit of breaks they don't really need.

Fair play to FIFA; they don’t get much right, but these initiatives are a breath of fresh air. Players roll around for a few seconds and then realise the game is carrying on, so they miraculously rise like Lazarus. No time-wasting at corners or throw-ins, and the sending-off of Almorin should discourage any talking behind hands. Even corners are being checked correctly — all good stuff. The one idea I could do without, though, is splitting the game into four quarters.
