With wired headies + sky tee the elder millennial energy is off the charts in the header pic here. Tho it was a missed opp for an “everything is embarrassing” headline… (NB: i do wish the country was doing better than the bulwark but such is life) nymag.com/intelligencer/…

"Every day that goes by, we're missing out on 18 million barrels more of oil." @Timodc speaks with @GasBuddyGuy to learn more about the monetary impact of the war in Iran and how gas prices may not immediately go back to normal. In fact, it might take up to 65 weeks to return to sub $3 gas prices.

Imagine this: you sign up for a cruise and 1/3 of the boat are conservative homosexuals in red t-shirts talking about how much they want to bang Ric Grinell.

Mahan: I firmly reject the candidates of the MAGA movement at one end, who are offering solutions that are not aligned with California’s values. But I also reject the “more of the same” candidates who are offering the same old solutions—and frankly a lot of rhetoric and a lot of empty promises, promises they can’t keep. I’m the only candidate in this race who has had the responsibility of being a chief executive of a major U.S. city and holding myself and everyone around me accountable for delivering results, for making people’s lives better—including challenging some very powerful organized interests within my own party and fighting to make it easier to build housing, to open a small business, to reduce crime, and to make all of our neighborhoods safer through community policing, reducing homelessness faster and more pragmatically than any other city in the state. Those are the kinds of solutions that we need right now. We need pragmatic progressivism that delivers real, measurable impact in people’s lives—making schools better, neighborhoods safer, and housing more affordable. That’s what I’ll be laser-focused on as governor.

@Timodc Resist Libs were hardly ever talking about foreign policy when they chanted THIS IS NOT NORMAL. It was mostly "democracy," mean tweets, white nationalism, pussy hat, etc. Point me to the anguished David Frum and Bill Kristol posts warning that Trump could do regime change in Iran

George Conway ⚖️🇺🇸
"Conway, 62, is running something of a yolo campaign. 'If instead of deciding to become a lawyer, I’d decided to pursue my interest in politics and go into politics, I’d be really stressed out right now. But I just have no fucks to give,' he says. "Central to Conway’s pitch is that Trump is a uniquely authoritarian threat who needs to be removed from office. Most Democrats in the district agree with him, but leaders in the House have tamped down impeachment talk, fearing it will turn off swing voters. Conway says he aims to do this in his first term and then serve one more to try to codify into law a remedy against future presidential abuses."
New York Magazine@NYMag

NY-12, which includes both the Upper West and Upper East Sides, is the smallest and most population-dense congressional district in the country, one that candidates can crisscross several times over in an afternoon. It is among the wealthiest and oldest districts in the United States and is also the district with the most college graduates. If you listen to the candidates, the battle for NY-12 is not just about who will be the next member of the city’s congressional delegation but a contest among factions of the island’s Democratic base: the old-money elite, the anti-Trump resisters, the tech-world crusaders, and the old-school party Establishment. While nearly a dozen candidates are vying for the district’s congressional seat, the primary is coming down to just four: Micah Lasher, a state assemblyman from the Upper West Side and a longtime political hand who is Jerry Nadler’s anointed successor; Alex Bores, an assemblyman from the Upper East Side whose calls for AI regulation have led to millions of dollars being spent both for and against him; George Conway, the onetime Republican lawyer who has achieved notoriety as a leader of the #Resistance; and a previously little-known social-media influencer who is trying to rewrite the rules of New York City politics. “It’s New York-sized,” that social-media influencer, Jack Schlossberg, said when asked why this campaign is different. Schlossberg’s presence in the race proves the point. For our Cover Story, David Freedlander reports on how four liberal-but-not-left Democrats are racing to be the face of Manhattan: nymag.visitlink.me/Os2_Oz

The Democrats effort to block ICE/CBP funding from the budget via DHS shutdown succeeded as House Rs backed down with a whimper/voice vote. Another fold from House Rs something that is lost a bit in the discourse. @JakeSherman @samstein break it down. youtube.com/watch?v=6sYDF2…

Here are three things that will happen: 1. DOJ will lose the Comey case. 2. In the next Administration, Comey will get a big monetary settlement for selective prosecution. 3. After this Administration ends, @DAGToddBlanche will get disbarred. 86 47

AG Todd Blanche tells Kristen Welker that individuals selling 86 merchandise or posting messages similar to Comey’s seashell post will not be prosecuted: “Of course not. That’s posted constantly. That phrase is used constantly.”
