@jmkeller3 The majors have always been a place to see and be seen. Papa even went to the US Open at least once.

@nytimes @deray This is actually how I want my government to work, rather than as two blocks seeking power.

The “Sister Senators” are the only women in the South Carolina State Senate. Together, the three Republicans, one Independent and one Democrat are refusing to allow the legislature to pass a near-total ban on abortion, despite a Republican supermajority. nyti.ms/3B1isjF

So I recently got @EASPORTSFIFA and uhh just realised I could play as @SJEarthquakes so I just absolutely beat up on AI Nashville, which was thrilling. It’s my best result yet, and I managed to not get any red cards!

Same. I can still hear it in my head now. Not accidentally, my mom was an early exceptional feminist. And I’m better for it.

Well this is cool to me. I have so many memories of my mom’s involvement in the WI LWV, and now I live part of the year in Montana. I hope that this right to privacy can be upheld and women can continue to be supported here.
Jennifer Palmieri@jmpalmieri

Surprised to see Montana stand alone in a sea of red states w/out a trigger law? It’s bc MT has a right to privacy in its constitution. 50 yrs ago MT League of Women Voters led a successful effort to call for a Constitution Conv & right was enshrined there. Impt lesson…🧵

Some people create or discover new things. Some enforce social norms. There is little overlap between the two.

@emollick Do you think we’re at a moment where that makes a step improvement again? Is that what “the great resignation” actually is?

As countries developed, the average worker went from spending 50% of their life working in 1856 to around 20% working in 1981. It is a huge life benefit we don’t think about much (pure.iiasa.ac.at/id/eprint/4461…) Since then, however, things have stagnated, with much less improvement.
