My tip for the tournament: Fade extreme pitching-first teams HARD. I don’t care how great the pitching is. Teams with great pitching + bad offense are disproportionately less likely to make it to Omaha than other team profiles. Beware a host w/o the best offense in its regional

@jontweetssports Its not that wild based on precedent. The committee has consistently let RPI be king. Whether they should is another argument. The media probably shouldn't have pushed Arkansas so heavily knowing that. They are supposed to project the committee not their own personal opinion

I think the wildest regional hosting decision has to be giving Mississippi State a hosting spot when they went 1-6 in series vs NCAA Tournament teams & 0-3 in series vs NCAA Tournament teams at home.

@KendallRogers @HailStateBB Making it State vs Arkansas is disingenuous. Oregon had the worst resume and would be out if committee wasn't obsessed with having 2 West coast regionals

No doubt the Hogs have a better overall body of work in my eyes, but @HailStateBB is several spots ahead in the RPI, which ultimately, was king in this scenario. I actually think MSU, with McPherson back, can be a national title contender, so ultimately no big issue.

I totally get this reaction, it sounds insane to say winning 40 games (18 vs SEC) vs the #7 SOS is in question, but 99% of the time that resumes has more than 1 good series win. It’s not State vs historical precedent, its State vs Arkansas/WVU/Oregon/Nebraska etc

@timscottfan12 @LFLatMSU They didn't lose that series, they split. It was a 4-game series. While that's not good, their only home series losses are to teams projected to be in the top 8. They're hosting. They've done plenty to make up for that series split

People swiftly forget about 2024. Georgia lost the head-to-head to Mississippi State. Georgia’s RPI was 13. Mississippi State’s RPI was 18. Same script, different season. Georgia ended up hosting. State did not. This is the same script with Arkansas and Mississippi State. This time? Mississippi State’s RPI is 12. Arkansas is 21. The highest RPI that Arkansas can climb to today with a win is 20. If the argument is who hosts between Mississippi State and Arkansas, the answer is simple.

@timscottfan12 @LFLatMSU SOS with significantly less quad 1 wins. Series wins do matter when determining regional hosts with similar resumes (which the resumes really aren't similar). H2H also matters. Only State fans keep hanging their hat on RPI, which we all know is flawed

@LFLatMSU What was Georgia's series record compared to State's that year? How many quad 1 wins compared to State that year? RPI is all State has the upper hand in, which we all know how reliable RPI is
