I hate seeing those fake posts about tax / salary deductions cause the amounts are usually so weird. When my salary was 280k I used to have roughly 40k deducted, there’s no way you’re getting 50k taken out of 170,000 yen every month !!!

“Homophobia is rooted in misogyny” is supposed to illuminate how gay men are not beneficiaries of patriarchy since their manhood is invalidated by their sexual orientation. It is NOT supposed to give straight women a pass to hetsplain homophobia to actual queer people.

Instead of simply taxing wealth, re-nationalising water, ending support for genocide, and a tiny bit more wealth redistribution — Keir Starmer has instead destroyed the Labour Party and ushered in fascism.

@rinsass There's a nuance gap between 海賊版 and 違法アップロード that twitter's translate feature misses. "Piracy" can mean digital in English but the translation 海賊版 evokes physical illegal rips people sold and passed around from like the 90s for older Japanese people.

@simonsarris @powerbottomson Can almost guarantee this is them being told they have to tilt the buns back to show off the inside more (corporate rule) but also local compliance saying they can't shoot it head on like other countries because it's deceptive (compliance rule).

@powerbottomson they show that in the American website but they're not off to the side. If you look carefully, many of the buns are a half inch back on top though the photographer is careful to make it seem otherwise

But let’s actually talk about the convenience store noodle system in Thailand vs Japan. Please no fighting. In Thailand, if you want instant noodles, you pick one out, then go to the noodle station and pour hot water, and then pay. After that, you either sit down and eat or leave with your food. Why is it convenient? In Thailand, the prep happens while you’re waiting anyway, so you’re overlapping tasks. But in Japan, everything is sequential, so total time can be longer for the individual customer, even if the system itself is more controlled? Thailand: pick > prepare > queue > pay > eat Japan: pick > queue > pay > prepare > wait > eat Both societies already operate on high interpersonal trust, so I’m confused why Japanese consumers follow corporate rules that don’t make sense? 7-11 rules don’t count as “culture or tradition” so that reasoning can’t be used lol You also can’t blame foreigners, this system has been in place in Thailand for years, and Thailand is also a tourist hub yet everything works fine and saves consumers 1-3 minutes in waiting time per meal.

@bobabobbafett @sighyam Agreed, was just replying to the phrasing of 1 part of the OP. The people getting pissed at the dude obviously just trying to pay for his food are insane. It's a cute cultural difference mistake.

@tindenli @sighyam This conflict has almost nothing to do with the man’s action. Almost all Thai people have no problem respecting rules in Japan & agree with the cashier to inform him. The conflict is due to racist Japanese netizens who use this opportunity to hurl insults at all Thai people.

@blue_empty_sky @sighyam I was taking issue with the OP saying Japanese are blindly following corporate rules, like the Thai way is obviously correct. It's just a cultural difference. 100% agree the replies to it are insane. Japanese people are really touchy and easy to snap at foreigners lately.

@tindenli @sighyam You're extending the issue beyond what it really is. We are not saying it's okay to break the rule, we're saying the mistake is very minor, there is no malicious intent, and appropriate reprimands were already made. The discriminating comments, however, don't want to end at that.

@BryanKilvinski Personally no. But if 7-11 added a microwave section then yes I’d heat my own ready meal up too before paying because when the shop is busy it takes staff several minutes to get to you.
