Jeremiah Chechik discusses the aesthetic process and technical refinement behind “Still Life with Flower and Wine." The digital volley between Chechik and The Machine results in a degree of textural clarity and realism that hangs on the precipice of the uncanny valley. @tinroof

The book I published in 2020 seems especially relevant this morning, alas. As do its title and subtitle, which at the time were meant to seem a bit hyperbolic. kurtandersen.com/evil-geniuses

Erick and I are thrilled to share some exciting news! Since establishing the Generative Art Fund in 2021, it’s been our dream to broaden our charter and champion the field of generative art beyond fiscal support. Today, we are proud to announce that we’ve officially evolved into the Generative Art Foundation, with an expanded mission. Our new focus areas include: Opportunity: Expanding opportunities for creative coding by supporting organizations that merge art and programming, and championing diversity and inclusivity. Education: Fostering public appreciation of generative art through educational events and cultural exchanges and serving as a resource for academic research. Preservation: Securing the future of generative art by researching and implementing digital preservation solutions and building a diverse collection of artworks. Partnership: Collaborating with museums and other art institutions to integrate generative art into exhibitions and facilitate on-chain acquisitions. We invite you to contribute to our mission. Your donations enable us to maintain current giving levels while expanding our scope. Since 2021, more than $1.5 million has been donated by artists and individuals who believe in the future of generative art. We are now growing our endowment to secure the foundation’s financial stability and ongoing impact. For more information, please visit our new website (link in 🧵) and follow us @genartfound. If you’d like to contribute or learn more about how to get involved, please send us an email or direct message. The easiest thing you can do to help is amplify this post. Thank you for believing in our mission and for joining us as we begin an exciting new chapter in the story of generative art. Sincerely, Jeff Davis & Erick Calderon Co-Founders, The Generative Art Foundation

The indicted mayor of New York parading with the indicted assassin. I’ve been saying for a long time in nonfiction (Entertainer-in-Chief, The New Yorker, 1998) and fiction (Turn of The Century, 1999) that American politics was becoming a genre of entertainment. It continues.

So Gen-Xers: why’s your generation so exceptionally Republican? In every other, Harris leads Trump by margins of 6% to 9%, solid majorities. Among Gen-Xers, Trump is ahead by 8%, an equally solid majority. Don’t fell me it’s just because Regan was president when you were kids.

Do not necessarily trust the AI-generated answers that Google puts at the top of search result pages. When I asked the date of Pentecost in 2045, it claimed it's unknowable. Wrong––it'll fall on 5/28/45, as always 7 weeks after Easter. Then the AI doubled down and denied that.
