@AsakyGRN This energy could be better directed toward reclaiming the means of production from the few, rather than toward fellow Africans. Land is the foundation of ownership. Without it, a person has no title, and for black SAns, no land amounts to no identity.

South Africans 🇿🇦 chasing away fellow Africans should remember this: the same people you reject today may be the people you need tomorrow. A Kenyan man has warned: Africa is watching. The propaganda that other African immigrants are “stealing jobs” dangerous. When the day comes that you need African solidarity, don’t be surprised if silence answers.

#PoliceMinistry [ATTACKS AGAINST GHANAIAN NATIONALS AND OTHER FOREIGN NATIONALS] The Ministry of Police strongly condemns the recent xenophobic acts of violence and intimidation directed at Ghanaian nationals and other foreign nationals within the Republic of South Africa. These actions are not only unlawful, but they stand in direct opposition to the values of dignity, equality, and human rights upon which our democracy is founded. South Africa is a constitutional state governed by the rule of law. No individual or group has the authority to take the law into their own hands, irrespective of grievances or frustrations. The Ministry of Police wishes to advise the members of the public that acts of xenophobia, violence, looting, or intimidation will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The #SAPS has been instructed to act decisively and without hesitation in addressing these incidents. All those found to be participating in, inciting, or supporting such criminal conduct will be identified, apprehended, and brought before the courts. The Ministry of Police calls on all communities to remain calm and to reject any attempts to sow division and hatred among residents of our country. The Ministry further urges community leaders, civil society organisations, and all stakeholders to work together with law enforcement agencies to prevent further violence and to promote dialogue and understanding. #ProtestAction ME

There is no government that would summon our Ambassadors if the government actually enforced immigration laws. Immigration laws are enforced all over Africa and rest of the world, and no one says its xenophobia. The issue in SA, is a failing government that leads to citizens having to step in. The only solution is a government actually enforcing the immigration laws !!!

@JabulaniSkhosa6 @ZungulaVuyo It is both absurd and regrettable to think that an Africa should limit themselves only to matters within their home country. That world view is narrow. We live in a globalized world, and life does not begin and end at the borders of your birth country.

Xenophobes are chasing blacks from a hospital, some from ICU. When a Congolese man challenged them to logic, they stuttered. This has nothing to do with illegal immigration but just black hatred. They can’t do this to whites, Indians, Chinese. Evil Cowards!

A South African anti-immigration group has sparked outrage for harassing a Ghanaian migrant. They stated that they don't want African migrants in the country. The civilian group is known for stopping and questioning African migrants to know their immigration status.

@RexMidzi Never take what Zanu PF does at face value. Always ask what’s really driving their actions, words, and decisions. There’s usually a deeper motive most people miss.

Were the amendment made in good faith, the incumbent would not gain from it. Since that is not the case, and it is instead intended to entrench a dynasty, it deserves opposition from all rational Zimbabweans. Simple!

35 out of 56 Commonwealth countries do not directly elect their head of government. That’s 63%.  We may not be in the Commonwealth, but most of its members are our development peers—so on democratic governance, that’s a useful benchmark. Worth asking: how do we compare? #CAB3

Zambia has increased constituencies from 156 to 226, while Malawi has expanded from 193 to 229 and now has 229 MPs. Both rank among the poorest globally, yet continue to prioritise expanding political representation over productive investment. What a shameful lack of fiscal discipline and misplaced developmental priorities. Let’s be realistic, these economies could function with fewer than 100 MPs without any material loss in governance outcomes. For context, Zambia has about 20 million people while Malawi has 21 to 22 million. Zambia’s GDP is about 29 billion dollars compared to Malawi’s 13 to 15 billion, with per capita income around 1300 dollars and 500 to 600 dollars respectively. Poverty stands at roughly 60 percent in Zambia and 70 to 75 percent in Malawi. Globally, Malawi ranks between 3rd and 8th poorest countries, while Zambia falls between 15th and 25th poorest. The poorest of the poorest!! In such terrible economies, wise leadership and rational policy would dictate a deliberate reduction of recurrent expenditure and a decisive reallocation towards production, infrastructure, and growth. Expanding the political class in the face of mass poverty is not reform. It is fiscal indiscipline masquerading as representation. What a disgrace!
