An unarmed Iranian ship was invited, along with the U.S., to be part of an Indian Naval exercise, and its sailors paraded on land before the president. The U.S. at the last minute pulled out of the exercise and instead attacked the Iranian ship with a torpedo. Breaking with all norms of civilization and warfare, we then refused to rescue the drowning survivors. The Sri Lanka Navy was left to pull the dead bodies from the water. I am hard pressed to think of any other nation throughout history that would do something so cowardly and despicable. We are genuinely in a league of our own, and American media — mostly shrugging off the bombing of a girls school and acting as if carpet bombing Tehran is a normal military tactic — is deeply complicit.
Kanwal Sibal@KanwalSibal

The Iranian ship will not be where it was if we had not invited it to talk part in our Milan exercise. We were the hosts. I am told that as per protocol for this exercise ships cannot carry any ammunition. It was defenceless. The Iranian naval personnel had paraded before our president . The attack by the US submarine was premeditated as the US was aware of the Iranian ship’s presence in the exercise to which the US navy was invited but withdrew from participation at the last minute, presumably with this operation in mind. The US has ignored India’s sensitivities as the ship was in these waters because of India’s invitation. We are far from politically or militarily responsible for the US attack. Our“responsibility” is at a moral and human plane. A word of condolence by the Indian Navy ( after political clearance) at the loss of lives of those who were our invitees and saluted our president would be in order.

@WLGZ @AFLCIO @TheDemocrats is it a secret who is going to get to participate in the DNC-run forums? I google and can't find the info -- mult sites said they're going to require the signatures of 40 DNCers to get into the forum -- any idea if she's gotten them?

@AFLCIO @TheDemocrats Looking forward to hearing the plans of all the DNC Chair candidates at the upcoming forum on Jan 6. Especially excited to hear from Marianne Williamson a lifelong champion of labor and working Americans, and the only woman candidate. A leader who will prioritize the people.

As @TheDemocrats decide their new leadership, the party must refocus the needs of working people.   Join the DNC labor council on January 6 for a forum of leadership candidates where they will share their vision for the future of working people and the Democratic Party.

If the DNC and Dem Party leaders are serious about winning back the hearts & minds of the millions of disappointed democrats, and bringing back the soul of the Democrat Party of our forefathers and mothers, then they must allow Marianne Williamson on the first candidate panel for DNC Chair. Otherwise it’ll be SameOl’-SameOl’ cc: @marwilliamson

@denisedwheeler Maga suckers... -- there weren't any more of them than in 2020 -- this election wasn't the result Maga suckers -- it was the result of the Dems decisions that turned off all the voters that went for Biden in 2020

Biden's entire cabinet is worth a paltry $118 million. Trump's cabinet a combined wealth, at $340 billion. So far. That's greater than the entire GDP of New Zealand. Happy New Year, all you MAGA suckers. You're about to find out who the real con is.

Last year, Jimmy Carter asked President Biden to deliver his eulogy—a testament to Biden’s rare ability to capture the depth of grief and humanity. Dubbed the "Eulogizer in Chief," Biden’s unmatched empathy has marked farewells to many, including: John McCain (2018) – Senator and close friend Ted Kennedy (2009) – Longtime Senator and ally Daniel Inouye (2012) – Senator and WWII hero Fritz Hollings (2019) – Former South Carolina Senator John Warner (2021) – Virginia Senator and Navy veteran Bob Dole (2021) – Senator and WWII hero Harry Reid (2022) – Senate Majority Leader Elijah Cummings (2019) – Congressman and civil rights leader Madeleine Albright (2022) – Former Secretary of State Ethel Kennedy (2024) – Widow of Robert F. Kennedy The president's words and empathy transcend politics, touching hearts in moments of loss. Something his successor will never be able to do.

🚨Marianne Williamson is NOT your ‘new age crystal orb softie.’ She’s the bold, uncompromising reformer the Democratic Party needs NOW.🎯 🔥 Watch her take no prisoners and tell it like it is. This is why they fear her. The DNC is a mess, and Marianne is the ONLY one who can clean house. They can’t buy her. They can’t control her. Share this if you’re ready for radical, fundamental reform. 💥
Christian Stran@christianstran_

Marianne Williamson dropping the F-bomb on Don Lemon’s show was so satisfying! 🤣 THIS is why Marianne would be the perfect DNC Chair.

Everyone kind of knows that our society is profoundly sick. You can sense it. There are raging disagreements about what exactly it is that’s wrong, but everyone can feel that something freakish and unnatural is happening here. The source of this sickness isn’t clear at first glance, so you’ll hear countless explanations for what specifically is giving rise to this sense of dis-ease within us. Some say it’s because we don’t have enough religion in our lives. Others say it’s because we have too much. Some say it’s because half the country has the wrong political ideology. Others say it’s because there are too many trans people or immigrants. Some say it’s because humanity itself is innately rotten. Others say it’s because our society is enslaved in a sinister conspiracy by Jews or Freemasons or neo-Marxist technocrats. Everyone disagrees on the nature of our dilemma, but we can pretty much all agree that something is very wrong. The reason it’s so hard to nail down the source of our problem is because every part of it is designed to be hidden. We are ruled by unelected plutocrats and empire managers who actively avoid being recognized as our rulers. These oligarchs work continuously to manipulate our minds using propaganda that’s disguised to look like news and trustworthy sources of information. This propaganda places ideas in our heads which we are tricked into believing we came up with on our own. These tricks work because they hook onto egoic tendencies within our psyches whose nature we are largely unconscious of. This all works together to manufacture consent for a system which does not serve the interests of ordinary human beings, and most of it is hidden from immediate view. We find ourselves in a mind-controlled dystopia where we think, speak, vote, work, shop, spend and behave in more or less exactly the ways the rich and powerful want us to, all while believing we are free — because the mechanisms of control are hidden from us. As soon as we are old enough to think and understand, our thoughts and understanding are shaped by the powerful using the most sophisticated system of mass-scale psychological manipulation that has ever been devised. We live our whole lives marinating in power-serving narratives about the world and our place in it. It’s all we’ve ever known, so we think it’s normal. It almost never occurs to anyone to question how their worldview got into their heads in the first place; to most of us it just looks like truth and common sense. But because we live under a system that’s designed to benefit the rich and powerful at the expense of ordinary people, we’re all acutely aware that the way things are isn’t really working. As the abuses and injustices inherent in capitalism become more and more egregious, this sense that something is wrong gets more and more widespread and acute. This discontentment is currently being funneled by the powerful into faux populist movements designed to herd the public into supporting the status quo while allowing them to feel as though they are waging a brave revolution against the establishment. The public is becoming more and more restless and agitated because they can sense that something’s wrong but can’t say what it is, like a dementia patient with a urinary tract infection. This agitation is erupting in ways which range from the crazy to the very lucid, from hate crimes and racist movements to mass protests against genocide and an expanding awareness that a better world is possible. Our job at this point in history is to try to steer this growing restlessness toward health and clarity. To help people understand where the real bad guys are, to highlight the manipulations and abusive systems at play here, to assure everyone that their growing sense that something is very wrong is absolutely correct, and to help them see exactly what’s causing it. As we move into a new year, that’s what we should all be working on to help humanity find its way into a better future.

4 years ago there was a lot of hope as Biden was building his administration. He restored our reputation around the world and fixed the economy after the ravages of Covid. Infrastructure and the Chips Act are lasting legacies to Joe. The thing that Democrats failed at was explaining to Americans what they had accomplished. Democrats need to be better at selling themselves.
