THE LEFT STOKES VIOLENCE because President Trump is challenging all their sources of power.
Praise God that he, VP Vance, Speaker Johnson, the Cabinet, and the injured Secret Service agent are all safe. And yes, we must be praying for a resolution to this violence.
But we must also acknowledge that tonight’s episode is just the most recent example of what many of us have been warning about for years: the Right’s rise to power, led by Trump, is such a disruption to the Left’s authority that some on the Left believe that only violence—whether widespread riots or targeted attacks, like the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk and the multiple, unsuccessful attempts to kill Trump—is their last resort.
Trump has begun the dismantling of the Left’s power base—the administrative state.
He’s courageously taken on reforms of another—higher education.
And yet another: K-12 education, with his promises to end the Department of Education. (Were you really surprised to learn the alleged shooter’s profession is a teacher, considering the gross indoctrination that is foisted on so many in that profession?)
And, yes, yet another: over-immigration, both illegal and legal, which Trump has begun to successfully reverse.
He and his administration recognize the opportunity we have, not just for this year, or this term, but for the long-term.
But so does the Left. They know that several more years of these kinds of conservative policy reforms will end their century-long project to replace all civil and religious institutions with their “sacred” institution—government.
Put simply: this is truly a civilizational moment. Do we strive to withstand the Jacobins of our age, like the deranged alleged shooter at tonight’s dinner, or do we continue to engage in the status quo of the Establishment, which blocks or slow-walks all of these reforms?
That’s also why some of us have exhorted fellow conservatives to recognize the urgency of the moment we’re in. The Establishment hates to hear that, and fights it tooth and nail. That’s why the SAVE America Act has not passed, for example.
That’s why, in spite of the Republican trifecta, there still hasn’t been a signature reform passed by Congress in 2026.
Tonight’s near-tragedy isn’t just an opportunity to pray even more for peace in our own nation. We should. But it’s also an opportunity to realize what’s at stake, and how the Left plays the game (there are no rules). And that too many on our side still think we can just play nice and govern like it’s 1982.
If we want to keep our country, then we must understand what tonight’s apparent attempted assassination represents.
And conservative officials need to govern like they understand that, too.
