Reds spring training games on TV are available for free on the MLB app, but apparently radio is not unless that game is on TV 😂 I did however find that 700 WLW is NOT blacked out on the iHeart Radio app. It normally is for me (out of market) during the regular season.

@dotsonc I’ll never forget where I was. Covering a city council meeting for my local newspaper (wishing I could be anywhere else). But during a break, I went to the back of the room where the game was on TV, and I saw Davis’ blast. Great vibes!

The front office, manager, coaches and beat writers can say there’s a competition for the fifth rotation spots. They each have their reasons for saying it. But Chase Burns is the guy. He could well be the Reds #2.

Would Schwarber accept a deal with deferrals? I have no idea, but he is the perfect candidate to do so. He has already earned $100 million and this is likely his last deal. From the Reds side, if there was ever a time to sign a deal with deferrals, it would be right now.

Will Schwarber sign with the Reds? I dunno, I'd probably put the odds below 25%. .....but I do think something that has not been discussed nearly enough is the *possibility* of a deal that heavily relies on deferrals. That completely changes the payroll conversation for 2026.

@LanceMcAlister People have been hurt so often by allowing themselves to believe, this is their way of preparing themselves for what they see as inevitable. I do see your point. The chance to watch meaningful September baseball is an emotional high for me.

What makes people so quick to give up, concede, call it a season, move on, when a team is 2.5 games out with ....30 games remaining? I don't mean this to sound as harsh as it might, but who is wired that way, and why would they follow sports to begin with? I'm certainly not here to claim they are going to the postseason. But given the freedom of choice of emotions and engagement level, why would someone bail.....with 30 games left? I don't understand the endgame. Follow for 132. Concede with 30 left? Predict it's over in order to get to something else? Odd.
