@bendreyfuss They were in coach *with their dad*. The kids weren't even unsupervised. Seems fine.
The awkward bit is flying to Hawaii with your ex- and mom, and running into your first ex for the first time in 20 years on that same plane.

@garyleff In all fairness, as someone who's been looking for better space to Paris for the past 3 months across 3 different date pairs, Paris is about as hard to get to as there is. Entire flights (including economy) all zero'd out. Its a rough time looking for award space.

@tmount Our last stay there was 45k and that hurt but against $1100 seemed ok. 58k feels unreasonable to me and 65k even more-so. Not even 2cpp.
At the same time I’m never paying $1,100 so it’s a tough one. We really love the property. Our son loves it. And the staff remembers us.

@kpottermn Agreed... Its always the negative stuff that sucks up all the oxygen. Lest we forget that 3+ decades ago, seeing Gramma and Grandpa in Florida was a 12-16 hour drive and once a year or every other year occurrence.

@tmount Oh trust me, I am not pining for some return to a so-called Golden Era. Just the opposite.
Flying today is safer, more reliable, and also cheaper. There are many justifiable complaints about air travel … but it gets drowned out by noise.

I think the biggest improvement in air travel would come from…
collectively reminding ourselves that it’s a miracle of engineering and physics to hurtle through the air at 550+ mph in a metal tube filled with your fellow citizens - and it’s still the safest mode of transportation by far.

I'm seeing an increasing amount of commercial flight horror stories. It's just not worth it anymore. I grew up pretty wealthy. In the 90s, it was common to see famous people in first class. They all disappeared in the 2000s. Now, airports are the new Greyhound bus terminals. And it it going to get so much worse. Private plane travel is the new norm. Eve mid-tier podcasters fly private now. People will either fly private, or decide to just stay home in their fortresses. God knows Amalfi isn't worth the trip anymore.
