@jwatte @justin_liew It's generally because the language is gendered. We're often looking at the English translation.
English

@justin_liew In Europe it's common to advertise m/f/b to show you're committed to diversity.
A bit like US companies advertising "equal opportunity employer."
English

@justin_liew This is probably European - languages like German are gendered, and so gender is explicitly stated where the word for the role may be of a particular gender.

Weeks later I am still occasionally laughing at "There can be only Waddell", @reynoldsgareth

@yayKM @lilyhuili Just to be clear, I meant hit Kristina up.
I got nothing.

@PaulDJohnston @QuinnyPig I see what you mean.
But also ... isn't all of AWS just handy shortcuts on top of EC2?
English

@tobyhede @QuinnyPig As far as I can see it's "let's share AWS Glue" and it allows people to do queries and extract data into temporary locations. It's... not something you couldn't do with Glue already. It's a shortcut definitely with some handy defaults...?
Or am I really missing something?

And we're ready for @aselipsky's Wild Ride, better known as his #reinvent keynote...
He takes the stage like a corporate rockstar. SIR IT IS WAY TOO EARLY
English

@PaulDJohnston @QuinnyPig It's similar thinking to "Encrypt at Rest". We don't trust policies and contracts to be the final arbiter of data security. If you can't see the data, a lot of the risk is mitigated.
English

@PaulDJohnston @QuinnyPig Even when you have a contract you probably want to reduce risk by preventing any access to PII data. We work with banks and have home grown implementations in place — essentially hashing PII so it can be mapped without exposing customer details.
