I actually support some of these actions. But he wasn't a peacenik. Cold war grew under him and increased the US nuclear arsenal by 50%.

Plenty of time to consider and plan a withdrawal. Remember Charlie Kirk criticised Israel and was dead within 2 weeks. JFK longer than that.

It was an election ploy and even then only if they were winning.
