@trainofangels00 What a boon for 🇨🇦! It’s a PERFECT combo w/ Canada being the only non-European country allowed into the SAFE program. The SAFE program enables Canada’s defence firms to access European military contracts, supports military modernization, and reinforces transatlantic security.

Canada has been chosen to host a new multinational Defence, Security and Resilience Bank, according to unnamed sources. The decision came after three rounds of negotiations in Montreal involving about 19 founding countries. Once fully established, the bank will grow to include up to 40 nations, mainly trusted NATO members It's purpose will be to provide long‑term, low‑cost financing for defense projects across participating countries that are trustworthy. Negotiations wrapped up faster than expected, and key decisions—such as the bank’s charter, treaties, and leadership—were likely finalized. The federal government has not yet officially confirmed Canada’s selection, but its soon to come. 🇨🇦⚔️ #Defense #InternationalRelations

I was honoured to sign Ontario’s 2026 Budget, a plan focused on protecting families, strengthening our economy, and making life more affordable.

And we’re already delivering on that commitment.

Our Ticket Sales Act is now law. That means no more price gouging on the secondary market. If a ticket is resold, it cannot be sold for more than its original price.

Working together to ensure a safe and secure @FWC26Toronto.

Today, I was proud to stand alongside members from all levels of government to announce the latest measures being taken to ensure that police services and emergency personnel will be ready and equipped to facilitate a safe and secure tournament for locals and visitors alike.   Our government will always be unapologetic in our public safety. Together, we are ready to welcome the world to Toronto for a safe and secure #FIFA26!

@sarobertsonca WTF, haunt you? It launched the Carney brand into orbit. It made him the international poster boy for standing up to the corrupt Trump regime, while other nations capitulated.

@sarobertsonca Carney’s approach is pragmatic. Accept the US for what it is, and work with what you have. If the US administration is angry with Canada and walks away in a huff, so be it. The US will come back when it’s ready. We will work with other partners in the mean time.

Canada is an independent country. I have no intention to see it become part of the USA. Global government is stupid and wrong, actually (looking at you 51st state and EU larpers). At the same time, the amount of Canadians who have let their inferiority/superiority complex come out unabated against the USA should hang their head in shame (if only they were capable of such emotion!). The response to Trump / USA goes well beyond "standing up for our country" (which you Libs were so against 5 seconds ago when you were tearing down statues of the father of confederation and the mythos of our nation). It's a tantrum and psychological dysfunction. Canada and the US are allies. Canada and the US will always be allies. That won't change. What does change are the presidents and prime ministers. As long as I can go online and see people like CAF vet Mike Rude treated warmly by his American brothers and sisters in arms, I know that the bond is strong. When I go online and see New Yorkers belt out our anthem (mind thy sons!), I know the bond is strong. America has provided our country with exceptional security and advantage throughout our long mutually beneficial partnership. We've had rocky moments. But this to will come to pass. We share a peace and partnership exceptionally rare in the long history of the world. Americans and Canadians, though different in our national traditions and history, share a common ancestry and much of the common culture. We are brothers of a common mother. We always will be. The best speech ever given by a foreign leader in Canada's Parliament made the point crystal clear: "Geography has made us neighbors. History has made us friends. Economics has made us partners. And necessity has made us allies. Those whom nature hath so joined together, let no man put asunder."

The government announced plans to cover 1/3 of newsroom labour costs for Bell, Rogers, and Corus. Doubling the Labour Journalism Tax Credit scope is worth tens of millions of dollars and would insert government tax support into nearly all news operations. michaelgeist.ca/2026/04/the-go…

@M_Simonyan Maybe Trade Canada for Russia. When you look at the numbers Canada has no right to be in the G7

Reporter: Reports today that you intend to invite Vladimir Putin to the G20 in Miami. Is that the case? Trump: No, but if he came, it would be probably very helpful. When they made the G8, the G7, they threw Russia out before my time. That was Obama and a certain prime minister from a place called Canada, Trudeau. And I said, 'That's a stupid thing to do.' And I was right. I'd go to these meetings of the G7, and about 90% of the meeting was talking about Russia. And I said, 'Why'd you throw them out?' You know, if they didn't throw them out, they would have been much better off. It should have been the G8. When they threw out President Putin, he was, rightfully, very offended by that. I venture to say you wouldn't be having these problems if you didn't throw him out.

🪖Juno News and Mario Zelaya, the influencer Poilievre personally thanked for "educating Canadians," are calling African-born CAF recruits "not our army." 🎖I have biracial children. Two of them serve in the Canadian Armed Forces, following their father, their grandfather, and a family line of military service. Over 200 years of proud service. When the Conosphere says "THIS IS NOT OUR ARMY," they are talking about my family. France lets foreign nationals earn citizenship through military service. So do the US, the UK, Australia, Spain, Israel, and Belgium. Recruiting people who swear an oath to serve as a pathway to belonging is not a scandal. It is one of the oldest traditions in the history of nations. Call it what it is: racism dressed up as patriotism, amplified by a political network that wants you to decide who counts as Canadian. My family already answered that question. #cdnpoli #CanadianArmedForces #CAF #racism #Conosphere #JunoNews #MarioZelaya #MilitaryFamilies #Canada

I’m an eternal optimist and will always want to highlight good progress. But the more I sit with yesterday’s economic update, the more concerned I get. 1. This government is falling into the trap of focusing on messaging and optics over outcomes. Claiming the new investment fund is a Sovereign Wealth Fund when it’s clearly not is a prime example. 2. There’s a concerning approach to shifting numbers to make our financial position look better than it is. Most Canadians will miss this, but this government has adopted an approach of presenting figures that show on all-government net debt-to-GDP ratio is at just 10.2 percent while in reality it sits at 75 percent of GDP. The 10.2% figure only works when the assets held by the Canada Pension Plan and Quebec Pension Plan are subtracted…. funds that appear on no government balance sheet and are not available to any level of government to pay off their debts. 3. Spending is still out of control and is leading to rapidly growing interest payments. Our debt is growing so quickly that interest on debt is now the fastest-growing government program, expected to cost more than $80B in four years. 4. There is still no action on the well known, fundamental ways to boost productivity: capital gains and corporate tax reform; aggressive red tape reduction; and bold opening of protected sectors to competition. Without these reforms, Canada is cooked. Our productivity will continue to slide regardless of the other efforts we make, no matter how well-intentioned.
