The same post that says it’s an outrage to eat at Noma has no issue w/ Graham Platner.
The people currently cooking & serving at Noma — did they create the abusive environment? Do they condone it by working there?
& GP’s totenkopf: is it nothing?

@katrosenfield It really is. Surprisingly affecting, w/ a sneaky-sensitive script from John Logan, and the dynamism of Jaafar — good God.

A new piece of mine is OUT!
An epic food adventure in New Orleans that changed me.

Grateful to @oxfordamerican for the opportunity to go long.
English

@taste_of_tbone Wasn’t out here searching. Read her piece, and went to see what the chatter about it was.
English

Really thrilled that this is out, & that I can finally share it — I went long to write about my son, about food, about New Orleans, about change.
Enjoy!
(It’s so good to be back in The Oxford American!)

@DubClayton Want to know what’s impressive to me? 28 pts in 20 minutes for Alex Sarr. That other shit? Shameless and pathetic.
English

Joyce, you are a TREASURE.
So grateful that, on a site that most of the time is just a ceaseless drip of toxic sludge, there’s this — there’s *you*.

"insist"? why would I "insist"? obviously the best way to read Chaucer is to read Chaucer but if you prefer a translation, or a comic book, that is your prerogative, Mr. Horned. also: if reading Chaucer in Chaucer's own language is "elitist" it's "elitist" in the way that choosing a neurosurgeon to remove the tumor in your brain instead of a dermatologist is "elitist"--sounds good to us.

@mattyglesias You could’ve said the same thing about Detroit, when their young talent had only shown flashes & had yet to ripen. Now look: first in the East. You have to be patient w/ young talent, esp. talent that is 20-22 years old, i.e., college aid. Don’t be short-sighted.

@walterkirn Twain didn’t just publish it; he helped write it. (And maybe more than helped.)
English

@xwanyex Real Americans, real patriots, don’t want to live in a country that tyrannizes, bullies, and thugs it up. There are ways to do this … and there is this way.
English

@Smith4Gm He was fully sensible to the advantages of the Instalment Plan
And had everything necessary to the Modern Man,
A phonograph, a radio, a car and a frigidaire.
…
Was he free? Was he happy? The question is absurd:
Had anything been wrong, we should certainly have heard.
English

@toddkliman You lost the election. The majority of Americans voted for this. Leftist agitators are trying to overturn the will of the people.
English

@Smith4Gm Not getting into this … But your America is not a place for the vast majority Americans to be proud of.
English

@toddkliman It's funny how there aren't issues with "gestapo tactics" in jurisdictions that are cooperating with the Feds. A reckoning is indeed coming. The radical Left is going to be broken.
English

@FischerKing64 You’re conjuring justification for an un-American operation.
All of this could have been carried out quietly, w/o full military gear & Gestapo intimidation.
You defend ‘law,’ when your regime routinely breaks the same in every realm of life.
Also: the word is its, not it’s.
English

@FischerKing64 ICE shot and killed a woman.
This is part of a long and documented pattern of abuse of power.
That’s the story here.
Do we want to live in a country that bullies, terrorizes and abuses its citizens?
