First day at Anthropic and just set up my dev environment. Every time I start a new company I keep some notes when I first set up the Dev environment on how we can improve our internal dev tooling. So I thought we could use source maps and made a prompt a bit smaller, source maps also weren't attached properly in error reports per version so fixed that too then released, going to get lunch.

this is again just vibes but my honest guess as to why he's doing the presser late at night tomorrow as opposed to thursday, before market holiday, is because announcing christian boys are on the ground in the middle east hours before good friday will not play well with the base

OpenAI cancelling sora 3 is like, very direct proof that Anthropic is meaningfully accelerating how long it takes until RSI, right? I should probably read Holden's RSI post in more detail but it feels likely that unilateral pauses (or at least delays in product releases) ...

Some highlights from the WSJ Death of Sora article: - Disney execs learned about Sora being shut down less than an hour before it was announced, this verifies the reporting from Reuters - OpenAI needed to free up compute for Spud, specifically for enterprise tool use - The training run for Sora 3 was about to begin, and the estimated cost was very high - OpenAI had begun piloting an enterprise version of Sora for release in the Spring - at the time of its cancellation Sora had less than 500k users, and was losing a million dollars a day - Disney is currently in active discussions with more than a dozen different companies for their new AI video model and AI tools
