I think Tom Holland’s performance in The Odyssey is a good portrayal of a child who’s always acted like he’s tougher than he is because he’s had to growing up around the suitors. Also feels like an impersonation of what he assumes his father is like from stories. I liked it

the first two thirds of The Odyssey had me kinda going “I mean this is really good but it’s just…pretty much The Odyssey!” and then the third act hit and I was levitating into the ceiling and ready to watch again ASAP

so much to say about the odyssey but have to start with how unbelievably emotional it made me to see a trans man as one of the first faces onscreen in one of the biggest movies of the year and called the bravest young man odysseus had ever met. elliot page was perfect.

Careful not to misread Nolan’s message here. Agamemnon’s armor in The Odyssey is deliberately oversized and exaggerated because he represents human ego, ready to sacrifice absolutely everything for personal gain. He is Nolan’s symbol of what destroys humanity.
